I should have expected these rude critical responses. Live peacefully in your blissful city with your utopian government.

@Howard: The JRC is a private not-for profit arm of the Gebbie Foundation and has nothing to do with the City of Jamestown so they can spend money anywhere and anyplace they choose. They have partnered with the City to improve the facades of many downtown Jamestown businesses and this is a continuation of that effort. The Lisciandro family is deserving of this assistance as they are one of the longest running businesses in the City.

@ Howard. OK here goes. There is something in insurance called a "deductible". That means the amount of the claim is not paid 100%, and not all things are paid either. Commercial insurance is tricky, and given this was an incidental event, meaning it did not happen directly to the property but as the result of the fire next door, it's not as clear cut. So it makes sense that grants would be applied for and also given the fact that this is a long-standing business with a stellar reputation, of course the city is going to step up and help. I would expect nothing less.

You have this kind of decency in any US city..where you've got people willing to pitch in and help. Still not a reason yo like being here.

I just can't get my head around why JRC is giving money to help with the cleanup and to improve the restaurant's windows and awnings. These items are clearly covered by the insurance company. My fire WAS devastating and all I got was bullied and harassed from the city.

"What's so good about Jamestown?"

The answer is found throughout this article.

When people ask why do you live in Jamestown, this is the reason. All the best to Mr Lisciandro and family!
