LAKEWOOD—An abandoned female Chihuahua was found along Southwestern Drive on Monday, apparently zipped inside a Coors Light thermal bag and left for dead. According to Ray Muniz Jr....

How about the woman who gave the dog to a man to breed and have pups? Is she a responsible owner when we all know how many dogs are awaiting homes at rescues. Stupid isn't it?

The names of both parties should be in the paper as they have done with others. We need to know who not to ever sell or give away another pet to. Makes me wonder why the names were left out---who is being protected here. Dirtbags.

The real crime, after the fact would be if they return the dog to her original owner. All involved need to be prosecuted to the max and never allowed to own another animal ever again.

Jasper 99, I couldn't agree with you more! It is a privilege to be a dog owner. These people should be held accountable for their actions. Unfortunately, as seen in other cases in Chaut. County, they will probably only receive a slap on the wrist. If you can inflict such cruelty to ANY animal, then whose to say you will not transfer this deviant behavior onto a human life. Please dont look away, stand up for the rights of animals! They deserve only the best. People like this are dusgusting and should be ranked up there with Mike Vick, and the rest of the scum that decide that it is ok to act cruely to animals! PUKES!!!

This particular case of abuse will be presented to the District Attorney who will then decide if charges will be filed. It is unclear if Tinkerbell will be returned to her original owner.

The story spread through social media, and officials says it didn't take long to piece together what happened. Muniz said, "The individual who was responsible for discarding the dog was a friend of the dog's owner and he had a male and he wanted to mate her and they subsequently had puppies." The investigator says Tinkerbell was supposed to be returned to her owner when she stopped nursing, but the friendship turned sour and the dog wasn't given back. Gina Browning of the SPCA serving Erie County says this is just one of several recent animal abuse cases. "Sometimes we think it might be the time of year and the stress that people may be under. Other times people will blame it on the weather. Other times it just seems like there is a rash of cruelty cases that we actually find out about," she said. "It's just a horrific thing. You throw the animal's world completely upside down and they don't know why, they don't understand it." Continued...

Unfortunately...I always seem to find out more by looking at the Buffalo news!

"Investigators have pieced together who is responsible for dumping a dog on the side of the road inside a zipped up Coors Light thermal bag. The female Chihuahua mix was alive when found Monday afternoon in a ditch on Southwestern Drive in Lakewood, though authorities say the dog had likely been in the bag for some time due to the amount of feces and urine inside. A passerby spotted the dog when it managed to escape the cooler and run out into the road. The Chautauqua County Humane Society is treating the animal. Investigator Ray Muniz is dumbfounded. "Putting a small dog in a beer cooler in 18-degree weather and throwing it outside for it to survive or not I think is a pretty heinous act," he said. Officials at the humane society say the dog, now named Tinkerbell, is doing well and will remain under observation until she is healthy. Continued....

Look on the Chautauqua County Humane's Society Facebook page. The "owner" has been posting on their page about this and lists both of her "ex-friends" names. You can see how suspicious her behavior was from her own posts. Something isn't right at all.

This is exactly why we should require a license to own any type of animal PRIOR to getting it... Then we should also mandate that for having kids... Dirt bags. Their names should be released so everyone that knows them can know what a piece of dirt they truly are... SCORN THEM! Let them live their life in SHAME!

Whoever did this should be dragged behind the woodshed and have the excrement beat out of them. No excuse for doing this to a dog.

so, let's take the 'ex-friend' and toss her out in a thermal bag for a while........ who does this stuff??? I hope this dog doesn't go back to the owner, as she should have called or reported it before being 'questioned'. Something under-lying there...freakin twisted world.
