This is a total cop out by the City and the Dept. of Development. This plan is weak in nature, and totally eliminates the idea of a "River Walk or Trail". Let's use existing sidewalks on Steele Street and the 6th street bridge instead of building a trail, because the City can't get their act together and build a trail along the river on city owned land.

They have the existing city owned property near the former Unloading Corp. where the city stored sand and salt for years, along with the City owned parks dept property, and the condemned former trolley power plant building. The city needs to condemn and take back the slum housing along the south side of the Chadakoin and tear these homes down and try to beautify this section.

This plan and grant is a total waste of time and cop out by the city and it's weak leaders. If we're going to build a trail system, let's do it right and don't just say something is impossible due to Topography or Land Ownership.

The Riverwalk Project will be beautiful when completed. The jobs created should have many that could benefit the Welfare to Work participation program. Does it?
