John Stow was a descendant of John Stow who settled in Busti, NY in 1818. His daughter Sarah married Adolph Fletcher who established the Jamestown Journal in 1826. Her brother John, John Stow's son, for whom Stow is named built his homestead there in 1868. How well I remember the large white Stow family house up on the hill on the south side of Chautauqua Lake. An appropriate tribute!!

I am a friend of the Stow family and learned of John's sacrifice many years ago. I think this is a wonderful way of remembering him and those other veterans who gave their lives for their country, as well as the MIA's who are never forgotten by families and loved ones. Thank you for this tribute.
