A real educator here. The one statement our new Super said that tells me he understands pedagogy is the need to assess to monitor and make sure children's academic growth is happening. This is educational leadership. I am impressed!

It is good to see the Post-Journal commenting on the abilities of the new superintendent. The Buffalo News took a different road, talking about his personal life instead of his professional qualifications. Congrats, P-J.

He should be retired at his age, get someone local stop giving our tax dollars away to people that aren't from here and teaching since 1970 should have retired years ago. Guess Jamestown can afford to build his pension. Not to mention he is pushing Obama's "common core."

Obama's common core. Common Core Standards are from The National Governor's Association, not Obama. That right forlks it came form a group of Left wing liberals and right wing conservatives to make sure families that move about the nation (some people leave Chautauqua County) get the same level of education. Turn off Fox and get a life.

"The Buffalo News took a different road, talking about his personal life instead of his professional qualifications." It is so sad when that happens. I think Tim's perspective on gay issues , gay marriage, lesbians, crossdressers, etc. will serve well at the new position of mentorship. And Common core too! wow, what a package. Good deal. Someone told me just yesterday that Tim & Tom make a cute couple for the boys to look up to. Sounds terrific.

Mr Mains' orientation is irrelevant to his job performance. I'm glad the Jamestown School Board looked past it, as they are supposed to by law but also because it's the right thing to do. Had they given negative weight to his orientation Jamestown could very well have lost the opportunity to benefit from the services of a highly qualified individual.

Unfair, harmful and irrational discrimination costs our society a whole lot more than it saves. Congratulations to Mr Mains and kudos to the Jamestown School Board for hiring him.

Common Core, my daughter can recite more from the the Human rights bill than she can about the US Bill of rights or Constitution. Now tell me we are not following left-wing radical ideology.
