This might help sell newspapers, but it won't help solve problems. Suggestion: good reporters, with experience, that do research, ask the hard questions,and report in a fair and balanced way deserve higher pay. Getting the public to do this job for you for free won't accomplish much.

Paying people "decent wages" won't necessarily raise the quality of reporting, unless the higher wages result in being able to recruit an experienced, professional, investigative reporting staff.
