New York Election Laws allowing cross endorsements of candidates has to be eliminated. All this process does is allow payoffs to keep keep certain people off the ballot. If Cuomo truly wants changes- he could announce he will no longer accept the cross endorsement of any other party and it would force this process to an end.

"Take for example, the Joint Commission on Public Ethics, the jewel of Cuomo's toothless and ineffective 2011 ethics reform legislation. It only takes two of six legislators on the commission to vote against an investigation to stop a probe dead in its tracks."

Thanks for pointing out that the devil is always in the details. Poorly informed voters seem to have no desire or interest in following or understanding even simple legislation as long as "their" benefits or entitlements are safe. Cuomo is a nightmare but as long as Republicans offer candidates that are even worse, there is no choice for the people.

"the devil is in the details?"--one more detail--the majority leader and minority leader had a hand in crafting that 2011 bill--and how can any bill "ethics" or otherwise, eliminate abuse?

Better yet, TERM LIMITS! Should we really tolerate any elected official for more than two or three terms?

I am so tired of votes in legislation of any government being made for the next campaign.

Everything they do is to sell themselves. We haven't even gotten away from November and there is talk about 2014. I don't give a darn about 2014, I want my elected officials to do something today.

any comments on mcconnel's "unethical" and hypocritical treatment of Ashley judd? Other than lonerider, on this topic, you all turn a blind eye to your own political affiliations.

LONERIDER AND MR. DOG--[1] no I didn't make it up-you knew that--[2] dog -we have no prooof of where the tape came from-do you? [3] along with mcconnel there is a stragety from the rightie senators to take advantage of "ethics." Saxby Shameless-R unpatriotic ads against war hero Max Clelland. Bob Corker-R,racist ads against Harold Ford Jr. Rove and Bush false paternity ads against McCain. And now mcconnel R- hypocritically crying about "taping" and baseless accusations.

mcconnel's office is "experiencing a high volume of calls." I wonder what those calls consist of...........probably all supportive, mine would have been.

lonerider -since you were honest with me recently, in answer to YOUR question, the tape pointed out that mcconnel's team dug into judd's psychological, and religious background, and I have no doubt that mcconnel would have used that in a senate race. That is "unethical"--however that is also "politics." Your pals question makes no cents, since there is no proof that the office was bugged at this point--however I do believe that "bugging" is illegal. But it sure helps in some cases doesn't it?

lonerider--wasn't mcconnel one of the staunchest supporters of "bugging" Americans in the previous administration?--Your pal, dog can answer also, but if not, I understand.

Gio- I question your ethical standards by criticizing, almost exclusively, Republican politicians for unethical standards but I don't recall you ever castigating the Obama campaign for the sleazy smears on Romney. I would have more respect for you if you had been calling for Obama to tout his record in office especially Obamacare which by the way he never mentioned unless prodded. If something were really beneficial and good, I don't know of a single politician who wouldn't be touting it at every opportunity. Again, ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS.

fedup--I would welcome the posting of any campaign "smears" on Romney, and I will respond --I doubt they rise to the level of the "smears" posted at 12:16pm. With all respect I question your comment referencing "every politician" "touting" anything this president has accomplished.

Gio- You really are too much. Just because Harold Ford Jr. is black doesn't make any criticism of him "racist". Just because Max Cleland is a double-amputee doesn't make any criticism of him "unpatriotic". Harry Reid, from the safety of the Senate floor, where law prevents him from being sued for slander, accuses Romney of being a felon guilty of criminal acts. In other locations, when Reid was asked to expand on his accusations,he refused. Why? Because they weren't true. And Gio, don't even try to claim Obama couldn't have stopped these smears if he wanted to do it. You,Gio,aren't even ethical enough to hold those on the left to the same standards you do the right or you would have been openly professing your disgust with the "racist" attacks on Sen. Tim Scott and othe black conservatives.

fedup-"you really are too much"--you seem to have a propensity for "asking"--however that propensity doesn't carry thru to "answering." I suggest you find another playmate.....your "defense" of the 3 in question is at most amusing, if not troubling.
