Those Who Govern Cannot Be Trusted

March 19, 2013

To the Readers’ Forum: “Aaron Seekins II, a farmer by trade left his farm and family and enlisted in Captain Levi Rounsewell’s company of minutemen, which marched on the alarm of April 19, 1775......

The letter writer says we can't trust progressives or Obama (Democrats). She left out that we also can't trust Conservatives or republicans as they also govern. Audrey says our founding fathers wrote a constitution stating that they themselves and all future polititians could not be trusted. I really don't think that is what they had in mind.

Actually capri, if you understand modern day politics, almost all politicians are now progressives including Republicans and conservatives. Very few Federal or State level politicians are actually not Progressives. America used to be governed by representatives of the voters and taxpayers. Now it is governed by two parties who decide who their candidates are solely on how well they listen to the "big agenda". Money talks in campaigns, and whomever has the money gets to be in the spotlight. For some reason the sheeple are conforming to this, or the voting system is broken. I'm sorry but if anyone thinks that both parties aren't scooping up as much taxpayer money as they can get, and redistributing it someplace else, then you are smoking something. Both of these parties do not care at all about Americans. All upper level politicians become rich off of their jobs somehow or some way. I don't become rich off of mine... Why should they serve me and become rich off of me?

So tired of hearing about guns. Guns this and guns that. Audreys the same one who said NAFTA didn't allow jobs to be outsourced, blah blah. I don't trust people like her.

This writer is hysterical and pathetic at the same time. People like her love to spread doom and gloom and paranoia. All of these "wackos" that want to take up arms against the government should go find yourself a nice little place deep in the woods so you won't have to deal with human beings.

The author posts the same false argument that the NRA repeats. No one is trying to repeal the 2nd amendment. Some in our govt. are trying to make make it more difficult for felons or mentally ill people to get them. That's the background check. This won't eliminate the the danger these people present but currently it is very easy for these people to obtain guns without buying them in a back alley somewhere. Having these loopholes does not make us more safe. The 2nd amendment mentions a well-regulated militia. This was important because in the early years of this country we couldn't afford a large standing military. The closest thing we have to this today is the National Guard. The millions of gun owners in this country (like myself) hardly comprise a well-regulated militia. I support the right to bear arms. I also support the needed regulation to protect our people.

Boys lock and load its all going to erupt. There is no possable this country or world can continue down this path. There is nothing or no subject you can think of that is not loaded with corruption start to finish. Plain common sence tells us it can't possably remain in this state. Anti gunners are in denial of the predictable future

Those who want to see law abiding gun owners bow to this government are exactly the ones that will come running to us for protection in the face of emergency. I was taught in the boy scouts always be prepared and we never even thought about our fellow scouts being gay. Isn't that weird.

Ya see it's the anti gunners who truly live in fear and think johnnie law will protect them. When the revolt begins what side of the line do you think the popo will be on. The only military strong enough to break the back of the us military is the American citizens. The two will unite without a shot ever being fired the us military is we the people

In setting up our democratic republic 73capri, our nation's founders were historians enough to understand that democracies/republics were historically short lived entities, always having quickly died out, on average, 200 years after founding. (Historically speaking, we are on borrowed time, but right on schedule if you look at the process of how all previous republics disintergrated) Upon exiting the Constitutional Convention in 1787, Ben Franklin was asked as to what type of government he and the others had created for the county. "A republic, IF YOU CAN KEEP IT" was his answer. In fact a number of the founders warned in their writings about the folly of trusting those in government. They warned that the natural tendency of government has ALWAYS been to take power from the people and assume it unto those in office, a primary cause of the very limited historic success of democratic states.

Congress: Assault-weapons ban nixed from bill “Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said on Monday that a controversial assault weapons ban will not be part of a Democratic gun bill that was expected to reach the Senate floor next month,” Politico notes. “After a meeting with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Monday, a frustrated Feinstein said she learned that the bill she sponsored — which bans 157 different models of assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines — wouldn’t be part of a Democratic gun bill to be offered on the Senate floor. Instead, it can be offered as an amendment. But its exclusion from the package makes what was already an uphill battle an almost certain defeat.”

"On the Senate floor this morning, Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada) implied the explosion that killed seven Marines at an ammunitions depot in Hawthorne, Nevada was due to the "cutting back in training and maintenance" in the sequester"

This is a perfect example of "Those Who Govern Cannot Be Trusted". This is also a perfect example of a person who should not have anything to do with making laws in the country.

NBC's Jim Miklaszewski reports: Now I can tell you, Marine Corps officials this afternoon are taking a strong exception to what Harry Reid implied. Saying that this this exercise, for example, was planned well in advance, had nothing to do with the budget cuts. There were no corners cut, and if they couldn't afford to have all the safety precautions into place, they wouldn't do the exercise.

Marine Corps Rips Reid: "Pure Political Posturing On The Backs Of Those Dead Marines" That's Uncle Harry!

The liberals have been trying to disarm the citizens since the early 70's that I am aware of.

There are 105 countries that have a higher murder rate with the use of a firearm than we do. ALL of them have some sort of citizen gun control.

The just completed U.S. Justice Dept's report stated that Australia's gun ban DID NOT reduce homicide rates in that country.

One of the recent gun control proposals in NEW YORK was to CONFISCATE firearms. Sounds like a second amendment issue to me.

If it is a safety issue why is it just the LIBERALS that think the gun is the problem. None of mine have ever discharged on their own.

Jamestownite, I searched my files and found the forum on NAFTA, nowhere in them did I say that trade agreement didn’t allow outsourcing, check the archives and get your facts straight. Please wake up, we vote because we can’t trust those who govern, however our system is broke and there is a lot of outside interferences like illegal aliens who vote, foreign governments backing our candidates and the left leaning media. We vote in an attempt to get rid of them in hopes the next will be a bit better. Also people of this country have become complacent and too many don’t vote. All these things have an affect upon who gets in and who stays. Those who do are blind to what progressivisms are. Whataduck, show me where I said that the government is pushing to get rid of the amendment. No false statement was made. You made an assumption. Madman I already have a place in the woods because city people will be looking for anything they can get when the day comes. You included. How will a backgrou

. How will a background check detect mental illness? Felons, well do you really think such people will register their guns? Those who govern would play*****to get rid of the amendment too hard. They will regulate up to death first. I stand by what I say don’t trust those who govern you, such people look at the Constitution as a document hindrance

David--here is a cut and paste from a NY newspaper.

Cuomo confirmed the proposal, previously worked out in closed session, called for a tougher assault weapons ban and restrictions on ammunition and the sale of guns, as well as a mandatory police registry of assault weapons

No second amendment issues here---yeah, right----What part of "BAN" is unclear
