Roy, you seem like a nice man but you have no business commenting on economic matters if you are going to make that "what if the government were a household" analogy, because of course everyone else knows the government is NOT a family, and is not SUPPOSED to handle its finances the way an individual would. That's why it's called GOVERNMENT. It is the function of the government to take on debt when the economy is struggling. Your traditional economics, which would have the government EXACERBATE the economic crisis rather than ameliorate it by cutting spending rather than stimulating it, has not been considered a valid theory since the 1920s.

Get your facts straight before spewing off in the P-J, Roy. Social Security has never been on the table for sequestration cuts. The president has never threatened the elderly with cuts as much as you would have liked him to.

El Presidente has already hurt the elderly and one of their deserved and coveted programs...medicare. He took $716 billion from medicare and put it into Obamacare. And, he just took some more out of medicare to pay for Obamacare. You know, that fabulous healthcare bill that by the CBO's account now is going to cost us upwards of $2.5 trillion instead of the $900 billion promised by Mr. Presidente.

You dems with you blinders on will be suffering right along with the rest of us. Already, your money isn't worth what it used to be because the Fed keeps printing money, which in turn keeps devaluing our dollar. We can't keep spending money we don't have. Obama and company think that government spending will grow the economy. If that were true, our GDP should be at 10% by now. It's not. Wake up!

MacKenzie, one, just one, personal example of how the president has hurt an elderly person. One personal example please. If this true there must be many outbursts of the elderly being turned down for medical care. Just one personal example, please.

Don't know the specifics but i hear a lot of them saying the coverage changed. Myself i see a difference in out of pocket already. I notice hospitals changed the coding so people who spend three days, are sent to Erie, then back in three days are told none of it is covered anymore because it's now for "observation".Fact.

50's doesn't know the specifics because "FOX" didn't tell him what they are. But because it was "FOX" 50's knows it must be fact. "FOX" would not lie. If hospitals are sending everybody that spends 3 day to Erie, won't that overload the few hospitals in Erie. There are thousands of other hospitals.

monkey....it happened to me, and several people I talked to. Read what I said. Don't look for a confession from saviour obama and his administration who claimed you can keep the insurance you have. Your insurance company will decide that, not him. The change in costs, and fines will change your companies participation. It's that simple.

capri you have no idea what you are talking about. I'm talking about a specific case with my brother-in-law a year ago. Previously the same situation was covered. It changed. go ask your Dr. what he thinks of Obamacare. Quit listening to Obama and his news people. That's evrerybody but Fox.

Howard, you Obama drones just don't get it. Seniors Medicare Advantage will end 2014, leaving millions of seniors in a position of paying out of pocket what medicare doesn't cover. (don't forget, most of the crap in this bill is just getting implemented or will be implemented in 2014). I'm sure no seniors will be hurt by this. The reduction in reimbursements to hospitals and doctors is causing them the refuse to treat the elderly. Docs are not taking new elderly patients. That won't hurt the elderly either. There are many more, but one of my favorites, that will impact the elderly the most is the fine the hospital pays for readmittances within 30 days of a patient's release. Why will this impact the elderly the most? Because they have the highest readmittance rates.

Howard, your beloved President is a street-thug liar. You, too, will be greatly impacted by his health law, economic policies, foreign affair policies and the rest.

I have first hand knowledge from my physician - no new medicare patients. Prove, prove, prove. Why don't you prove that these things are NOT happening. Go for it! Bet you can't.

MacKenzie, Nobody can prove a negative. What hasn't happened can't be proven. There are many doctors now that do not take Medicare. If yours chose not to only because of Obamacare then they are sorely mistaken. As for your Medicare Advantage goes - it has already begun to change into different names but the Same coverage, yes the SAME coverage. I do know this as a fact. What you are saying is not true and are more scare tactics you must be learning from the far right, as that is their specialty.

If "no immediate threat"--why the need for immediate cuts, directed at the middle class and the poorest among us?

Roy,

I agree. The Vice Pres just said that he wants to raise the national debt by 7.3 Trillion Dollars over the next 10 years.

Here is the Math that follows that.. Current Debt $17,000,000,000,000.00 Debt Increase$ 7,000,000,000,000.00 Total debt in 10 years $24,000,000,000,000.00

Now 24 Trillion is a LOW BALL estimate too as Obama has added no less than 1 Trillion to the debt for the last 4 years.

According to the latest numbers the average household income is $50,000 a year and there are on average 3 persons per household and 330 million americans

So, 330 million Divided by 24 Trillion dollars is ruffly $72,000.00 each person owes for their fair share in the debt.

But for households its 3 times that or 72,000 for each person is $212,000.00

If you tax $50,000.00 at 35% (double the current amount) it will take 12 years to pay the debt off without interest or new spending.

In conclusion, were already over the fiscal cliff.

Fact,

Obama has spent almost 2 Trillion Dollars in 4 years on the INTEREST accrued on the national debt.

If Obama paid off the debt, he'd have lots of money to run tours of the white house...

Boehner avoided the cliff--he passed a "budget" on a "bi-partisan" vote. 10 righties voted NAY along with all dems. It was the same ryan plan that was soundly rejected by the electorate 5 months ago. These characters are really reaching out--as promised by cpac.
