Very well said Bruce. Unfortunatley the government in this socialist state is more interested in controlling the people than they are with personal freedoms and constitutional rights. The politicians ALL have the protection afforded to them by "assualt style" firearms, yet they want to deny us the same weapons to protect our families. More and more people will leave this state for states that honor personal freedom and responsibilty, leaving behind the socialist welfare state that used the be the great Empire State. Great job our politicians have all done.

Damnn, another gun issue. You would think the way about them it's the only thing we need to focus on.

Agree with tax; it's all about control of regular taxpayers by those folks we call politicians who depend on us regulars to support and protection their lavish life styles? There is no shame nor intelligence in that group. Why do we keep electing these fools?

Great logical article. Jazzie great unlogical babble. Without our guns you will have no voice. Our guns are the only thing that allows us the privilege of worrying about the economy.

Citizens are in jeopardy of being attacked by gangs and mobs. That is just one of the most obvious reasons we might want very powerful weapons of defense. Murder is the problem, not guns. So maybe we should outlaw murder. Oh, we did and criminals ignore the law. So the problem goes way beyond liberal intellectual competence but can still be used as an excuse to increase the power of government relative to populace. All's well that ends well.

I am glad for the push back here.. it is the sound of freedom and the stuff our Constitution is made of. I enjoy my rifles and shoot them frequently out here in the Country. Having stated how I feel I still find it amusing how revved up people get over this all the while our decline as a nation will make the above moot..

Go to the Observer site. There's a good piece in the Commentary section. Good points and well written.

The goverment is in big trouble. It has and will continue to spend like there is no end to the money supply. I think it came to an end. How many people live on welfare today or some form of gov assistance that is alot of money. On the other hand how much money goes to retired gov employees. Now for the real nail biter how much money goes to payroll for the goverment we have today. How much more are the working few able to give King Obama and his growing goverment. Obama knows how things are going to go. That is why Goverment is after your guns because they know what is coming.

"man carries asault weapon to Obama protest." Here we go again with the secret service asault weaponry- now how do those guys[secret service] hide those asault rifles so well in there suit pocckets? Perhaps we should outlaw ignorance.

The author of the letter is not an uninterested observer. Doesn't he earn his blood money selling guns and ammo?

It's time to stop blaming medication for gun incidents. Mental health is an underfunded issue that is poorly understood and for which there are no guaranteed cures. The best answer is to keep firearms out of the hands of these individuals, as well as those with anger management and alcohol problems.

The secret service is allowed to have real assault weapons with collapsible stocks and barrels under 16". Yes, you can carry those under a suit.

Liberals don't like guns or the people who do. They believe they have the right and the obligation to enforce their preferences and they are going to show you they can. They enjoy thwarting and doing dirt to others. That is the root of it all.

Ive talked with a gun phob that thinks the constitution of the United States was written by old men that it outdated and should be rewritten.

Those are the most dangerous in America.

Trog, liberals don't like ignorant people that have to resort to the use of force or bullying to make themselves feel in control. Intelligence beats force every time. It might take awhile, but it will win out. America is a great country because of thoughtful people.

A coworker of mine did not understand why anyone other than a hunter would want to shoot a gun. I took him to my property to do some target shooting. Once he experienced how much fun we can have, safely, he frequently wants to do more target shooting and invites his family to come along. I can only conclude that most anti-gun people have never shot a gun.

I agree with the exception of claiming the paper is deciding his gun rightd. His elected representatve did that. Besides, the paper is private and can express their own opinion. Yes allie, submachine guns or machine pistols can be concealed under a suit coat.

There is some kind of a gun owners' meeting in Frewsburg today. Click on News, Briefly, and then click on the one for February 19. It would be good to let the elected officials know that if they support our rights then we will support them at the next election.
