Why are there more comments about guns? Aren't there more pressing issues in this country today? Create jobs, violence will cease.

"Create jobs, violence will cease." An assumption which has never and will never prove true. As some folks just see that it is their job to kill other folks. This is life as we now live it!

It is not about guns, it is about Second Amendment rights. Equally as important as First Amendment rights and the rest of the Bill of Rights.

You are absolutely correct guns don't kill people, people do. The real question then becomes how do you control people, and do we value the safety of others more than we value the right to own a gun?

When we can answer these questions we may be on the path to responsible resolutions to our gun violence problem. Otherwise we are doomed to repeat history and have more massacres.

Let's look at the Second Amendment. I don't see anywhere in it that says I have a right to bear a gun. it says arms. I am allowed to bear any weapon of my liking. End of story.

Yes Chuck, it is flawed logic. The certification deal every five years is just a typical NY move to gain more revenue. They thought they might as well make some money off this whole thing.

I watched the debate on the TWC Ch. 83 the day after it happened. I can tell you that some of the legislators that spoke (all Democrats by the way,) would know the butt of a gun from their own butt. They sounded so stupid when they talked that I thought I accidentally switched to the comedy channel. They had absolutely no idea what they were talking about except that it trumpeted their fearless, crooked leader Cuomo. The Speaker of the Assembly had to keep conferring with an "expert" before he could even answer some questions. And even the "expert" at times was confused. God help us.

Create jobs and violence will cease? lol. You didn't put a lot of thought into that one, did you jazzie? The AR type rifle is so much more popular than the left realizes! Speaking of not needing more than 10 rounds to kill a deer, cops don't need 20 or 30 to kill a man. They end up using 20rd Glocks with five cops shooting a guy 100 times. Then discover he was innocent. That'll teach you to reach for a card informing people you are deaf....

mrinbetween-absolutely. Every conversation I've seen has been the same. Even Bill O on Fox knows nothing about guns. BTW I think you meant "would NOT know"?

Chuck brings up a interesting question; what makes a weapon offensive. If I as a nurse in the military can only carry defensive weapons per the Geneva convention what makes a AR15 a offense weapon since I can and have carried a M16 in theater.

johnee thank you for your service. I am afraid "offensive" in this case in in the eye of the beholder. It's hard to draw a line considering the weapons on the market these days, but let's face it, the movies have a great impact on sales.

I meant to say movies determine what guns are popular choices for killing. Dirty Harry's .44 has been replaced by Willis' and Jolie's exotic stuff.

Jazzie, really, you are not a stupid person. Arms are armaments, which are weapons. Weapons-arms-armaments includes guns.

Those of you who disagreed with the comment on the Bill of Rights, chew on this. The 2nd Amendment is EQUALLY as important as the rest. Any government that can take away your 2nd Amendment rights can take away any of the rest, like your 1st Amendment rights. Then you would not have freedom of speech that we all like. Think about it. There is a process that allows the government to amend the Constitution. Want to repeal any of these rights, go through the process, that's why it's there.
