T.E.A. Party Is Far From Dangerous

February 10, 2013

To The Reader’s Forum: The writer asked the question “Is the T.E.A. Party Dangerous?” In return I ask, to whom or to what? The T.E.A....

Thank you for the letter. Too many times people like Chuck Schumer refer to anyone that doesn't agree with their progressive agenda as extremists, haters, radical right-wingers,terrorists and/or racists. There's even a progressive agenda in public education that teaches kids that colonists in the Boston Tea Party were terrorists. A rather superficial attempt by association in order to identify the present-day T.E.A. Party members as terrorists. All one has to do for a "true character" comparison is recall how litter-free the National Mall was after a TEA Party rally vs. the Occupy Wall St. crowd or any number of rallies held by the pro-Obama groups. Actions speak volumes about personal responsibility as opposed to letting someone else do the work.

What gives any group a bad name are the few who use it to carry out their own agendas. This happens with all groups liberal and conservative. Someone will use what the group really stands for to push some crazy manifesto and then everyone is defined by the fruit loop. Too bad. We need citizen participation and discussion from all angles to solve problems. This discourages it. We can't just leave important decisions to elected officials.

When I was in leftist groups, the talk was killing, violence, genocide, law breaking, destruction, revolution. The people were vulgar, hedonistic, self centered, ruthless, psychopathic. When I attend a TEA Party meeting they are talking about classes on the Constitution, reading programs, self improvement, understanding the political system, gardening and canning classes and giving surplus to the poor. They are normal, responsible, decent people. Just telling my experience.

great letter--accurately pointing out why they were rejected so soundly. Blame the liberal press and hollywood, EVERYONE BUT THEMSELVES. No mention of the tparty dumping moderates and replacing them with "LOSER" RIGHT WING EXTREMIST CANDIDATES, no mention of anti big gov.and tax enough already party members, who supported every multi $billion loan from china to reward their rich supporters.I would however agree WITH THE TITLE that the tparty is far from dangerous--NOW.

8:51 am --"experience?" I especially enjoyed the "experience" relating classes on giving to the poor--since their previous leader labeled the dems and I quote-"THE PARTY OF FOOD STAMPS."

I love it when people want to talk about the tea party. It gives me the opportunity to talk about the new black panther guy wanting to kill little white babies. How about the violent occupy gang.

Who are the dangerous?

Giving is a virtue. Coercive redistribution nullifies the moral element. People too morally imbecilic to understand the distinction should be kept out of responsible positions and intelligent forums.

Trog, I disagree with your comment that redistribution nullifies the moral element. I do believe, however, that calling the left killers, violent, genocidal, law breaking, destructive, revolutionary, vulgar, hedonistic, self centered, ruthless and psychopathic is a good reason to be kept out of responsible positions and intelligent forums. But yet, there you are.

Shirley, the tea party was never a grass roots organization. Many top political figures had their hands in the formation of the tea party and many philanthropists contributed heavily to its original ideals. It is great that you are trying to advocate for a better life here in Chautauqua County but at the same time you are being a pundit for the tea party. I say stand up for yourself, start a real grass-root movement - call it something like "Chautauqua Cares' and get away from the destructive tea party that will bring you all down eventually.

50s4ever, you really believe that a democratic meeting took place with all of those atrocities being discussed? If those were the ideals of the Democratic party do you really believe it could exist today?

Read it again without your right eye covered. trog didn't say it was one meeting. But yes, the fact that you not only exist but are in power is proof how stupid the country is.

re-read the 8:51am "contribution." Perhaps the author could name the "LEFTIST GROUPS" he had "EXPERIENCE" with. The "leftist groupS" that "allegedly" spoke of-"KILLING,VIOLENCE,GENOCIDE,LAW BREAKING,VULGARITY,RUTHLESSNESS,PHYSOPATIC HEDONISTIC" etc. WELL?

Howard, enough of your conspiracy theories. With you,it's always some rich conservative who organizes protests against the Democratic Party. Swift boat veterans denouncing Kerry just had to be the product of rich conservatives. Never mind the fact that 23 0f the 26 veterans who saw John Kerry up close and in person denounced him as a liar and a phony. The only three who didn't were the ones next to him in the group photo. The TEA Party formed as a result of the runaway spending that occurred after Pelosi and the Dems took over Congress in 2006. It's membership greatly increased after the pork-laden first Stimulus and the closed-door,bribe-riddled,special interest written (SEIU) Obamacare that gave everyone an insurance card but more expensive and lousier healthcare in the future. And like Gio, you seem to denigrate the Tea Party because less than half of America supports them. Well, half the membership is either Independents,Democrats or former Democrats.

donkeyboy, you're the one who's been indoctrinated. That's the nonsense the mainstream media reports and would have the sheep believe. Slamming the TEA Party as all about being anti-abortion is comparable to smearing the entire Democratic Party as Communists (and don't even try to deny that some are). Growing up,we all learned to honor the colonists who protested the taxation tyranny of King George. What school didn't teach you was that only a third of the colonists supported the Revolution. And by no means is it a stretch to say that's just about the modern-day equivalent of the TEA Party support.
