Here I thought people loved unions because they helped get $70 an hour jobs --> say, $16 an hour base and the rest in benefits.

If the county home were privatized, the union jobs would almost certainly be downgraded in wage and benefit. In my opinion, this is because of the bargaining power gained from being public employees. Like it or not, public employees in this area, tend to be paid/benefited better than their private counterparts. My son works for a NYS utility and I am very happy that he makes a decent living, however I am not blind to the fact that his wages, etc., are very much improved by the fact that he works for a large city. When Carriage House and Cliffstar (Cott) move on, how will the tax base be able to even keep this home open? Sell and privatize it while it is still possibility. Keep it a going concern and most importantly put it on the tax roles. It is time to place public jobs on a par with private companies, and time to quit subsidizing the normal supply and demand of the economy.

It also couldda been Lori Cornell's husband Chuckie that put her into this and BOTH should not be elected/reelected. On the note, neither should Edwards either...

Mrs. Cornell plans to run for countywide office. She is trying to keep north county people on her side. How is that working for you in Jamestown Lori???

At least the 6 legislators in the north county that voted no to the sale did so because their constituents told them to vote no, even if their reasons are based on false and slanderous information. The 3 Jamestown legislators that voted no to the sale did so even though their constituents want the home to be sold.

I think there were 6 other no votes, please remember them at the polls as well.

Now we have to live with the votes of these three rouge legislators, Hoyer, Cornell and Whitney.
When the county home is gone, I hope the employees remember how their union helped just like losing thousands of the mfg jobs, auto workers and steel workers.
I think its just terrible that another business will have to close, especially in Dunkirk.

In Chautauqua County government, politics and personal agenda always take precedence.

Whitney and Hoyer are just narrow minded legislators who would not listen to reason. Cornell is all about the drama. 1 or all 3 may/should be voted out come election time.

The county home is and will be front and center next election, CORNELL, WHITNEY and HOYER, replace one of these abuse of power jokes and the county home can be shut down.
The best solution would have been to sell but now our only solution is to shut it down. Thank you HOYER, CORNELL and WHITNEY. The patients are the ones that will lose the most, thank you WHITNEY, HOYER and CORNELL. The employees will also lose and what a shame, thank you WHITNEY, HOYER and CORNELL.

Some are voting on emotion but Whitney's and Cornell's votes are based on politics. They are attempting to sit on the fence to make everyone happy. So far this is backfiring terribly on them.
