our local hospital with help from hamet, has solved their minimum wage problem--layoffs and hours cut. And successfully maintained executive salaries in at least one instance at 6 figures.

Who is the one copy and pasting the same line? If you'd like I could go back and copy and paste how you said you were anti-Obama and you weren't a liberal. Then I could copy and paste the math again and show you how you're still wrong.

Was Michaelatw. Which I assume stands for Michael at work. Wonder where he is employed and if his employer is cool with him spending their money on here. I also believe he is gravelpit as well.

Done. Except, instead of 'loving' it, it has really thrown you into an insecure tizzy. Howcome?

You did not discredit anything. But you definitely proved that you are a liberal. You were non-aligned. You have also proved to me that you have 3 PJ accounts. You really need to find something better to do with yourself.

We actually don't need minimum wage. We need regulation at the top, and the end of welfare. There is zero chance minimum wage will be helpful to anyone. The wealthy will just raise prices or move business overseas to account for the loss of revenue. Essentially raising minimum wage will inflate the economy, and then your answer is to raise minimum wage to counter inflation. Seems to be a vicious cycle. Why don't we tax the real minimum wage earners in America. Let's go after the millions who work under the table and pay no taxes at all. They are usually those with the biggest mouths and political agendas. And thanks Jamestownfan18 for finally admitting you are Michaelatw. So predictable.

Seadog, the more I listen to you the more I feel I must ask. Are you about 11 years old? I can't imagine an intellect past about the age of 11 thinking you have a point.

lol, so doggie, you mean when you create a product, and make a huge personal profit off that product, but have someone else do the marketing and distributing for you, that means you're somehow not involved in a business venture? Oh, how fun it is watching you struggle here.

"Then you won't need minimum wage. Problem solved. "

Hmmmm, no, because we still need people working in those minimum wage jobs. Those jobs still need to be done.

Guess problem not solved. Oops.

Boy, the righties are having an awlful couple of days. Something in the water?

lol, if the best defense seadog can come up with for his alter ego Jamestownresident, who threw a conspiracy theory at us, while completely forgeting the several million dollars Obama made from his books, is to cry and rant over the semantics of the term 'business venture', then I think that is great sign that the conspiracy is dead lol.

I'm still waiting for doggy to provide the source for these numbers he talks about, that were 'very much different' than my statement that assault weopons were the 2nd most common gun used in mass murders. Pity he can't supply it. I would havce like to compare numbers.

hahahah.

Yeah, seadog, you better run to the defense of poor Jamestownresident. He's hurtin right now lol. He jumped into a conspiracy theory completely forgetting about the several million in book sales LOL. And when he was reminded, he just pretended he was still right anyway lol.

But it looks like your not doing very well there either little dog. I think its time for seadog and jamestownresident to comfort each other. Its a romantic moment.

Nope, again, we were clearly talking about assault weapons used in mass murders. Its clear in my statement. Nice try again at your twist though.

As for the book thing, I dont really want to get drawn into that nonsensical discussion [defending your alter-ego Jamesresident, who got annihilated are you?] But I will just say this: Selling a book means creating a product, then marketing it, then having things known as 'consumers' pay what is known as 'money' for your book. You then pay taxes on that money, and collect the other two thirds as what is known as a 'profit'. That is called a business venture lol.

Well, this thread has been hijacked. It seems we have a couple people here who can't just admit when they are caught being dead wrong. Alice, you are absolutely right, the minimum wage [inflation adjusted] actually went UP steadily from about 1950 until 1968 or 69. Unemployment fluctuated during this time but did NOT rise with rising minimum wage, and was in fact below 4% when minimum was over 9 bucks inflation adjusted. Then in 1969 it suddenly dropped by about 2 dollars due to inflation, and wasn't raised to meet inflation. THEN unemployment went up to 9% by mid 70's. I"m not saying the drop in minimum wage caused increased unemployment, but this shows that the claim that keeping up the min. wage to meet inflation causes job scarcity is not backed by history.

LOL, I wondered how seadog would twist his blunder.

UH, no, those are the statistics for all murders. We were clearly talking about 'mass' murders, as can be seen from my statement:

"About 75 percent of mass murders from 1982 until present in the U.S. were perpetrated by killers who bought there guns legally. Assault weapons were the second most common type of weapon used,"

Nice try though. I wonder if anyone will buy it. Also, selling a book is now somehow not a business venture? LOL, wow, the nonsense you guys will get yourselves into to hide your blunders...

man, another conspiracy theory?? Well, while some of you talk about Obama conspiracy delusions, I want to make a comment about minimum wage rates. The reality, [unlike what Jamestownresident claimed below] is that for somewhere around half of minimum wage earners are between the ages of 25 and 60. And yes, they are quite behind inflation, compared to a few decades ago. My question to those who oppose the increase...you think its okay to let minimum wage fall behind inflation? So those earners can't spend their money in our small businesses?

The Obama's made approx 4 million in books sales in 2007, about 2.5 million in 2008, about 5 million in 2009. Thats 11.5 million, not even including 2o10, 2011, or 2012. Thats in addition to his salary.

So much for 'no business ventures', eh.

Poor Jamestownresident. Such floundering. He says:

"He has no business ventures, so explain it to me?"

The answer came: "Uhhh, yeah actually he has millions of dollars in 'business ventures'...oops-a-daisy.

Then he is also explained that there are several estimated of his net worth, them being anywhere from 3 to 12 million. Oops.

Jamestownresident came to us with a little conspiracy theory, then we saw he forgot the part of Obama's income that is by far the largest LOL...and his wittle conspiracy went poof...

Now, he pretends it didn't go poof. Sad to see.

Actually you did no such thing Michaelatw. The only thing you have done is change your name to try to give some new credit towards yourself. You still are a left wing supporter that twists up words to support your opinion. Obama is still skimming the system, same as you accused W. of doing. Obama has not sold anywhere near enough books to pay taxes and accumulate $7 million of net worth by honest means. Very few people save more than 10% of their earnings a year, and by Obama's book sales you are asking me to forget tax payments and assume he has saved almost 50% of his earnings over the past 4 years. How is that discredit?

we both [and everyone reading, probably] know you can't. So should we go on with the charade, or do you just want to say there's no source, and we can move on? Or continue your little dance. Either way.
