Oh sure, here goes again. I don't know what the PJ's bias is towards people like me is, I only had one letter printed in the last year. One.

You talk about abortion. Ok. I am not against it, nor am I for it. I think if people are going to fight for aborted babies, why not people who have died in the last few senseless wars we've encountered in the last 50 years or so?

And how many abandoned, abused children has the Reverend helped? It's easy to write letters about a topic, or pontificate about what should be a woman's choice (after all, it is she who has to live with the consequences), but I never even see letters about how children who are abandoned or abused should be helped, much less hear how the Reverend is actually helping anyone.

I would suggest starting an after school program for children at risk, but hesitate to think of what the radical, reactionary Rev would be teaching them.

Great letter Mel, thank you for speaking up for the innocent lives that have shamefully been terminated before they had an opportunity to choose anything!

The term Pro-Choice is a lie. There is no choice for the defenseless children.

Far more lives have been snuffed out by the atrocity of abortion than all of the wars of the last century, the comparison is senseless. The point is that all life is sacred to God.

As far as Rev. Mel not doing his part for abandoned and neglected children, that is an assumption on your part "plainly can't see!" I happen to know the man has a caring heart for all of God's creation, and the courage to speak up against injustices like abortion.

You've never seen letters from those unwanted kids either, ones who grew up lacking confidence or anything else because their parents didn't know how to raise them and never gave them a sense of worth.

All things could be, depending on one's perspective, deemed good or bad. I've heard the number of aborted children is much higher than this, it runs into over 70 million. Many of these babies would be adults now, and the question lies is: Would we be able to support them financially? Our population, if we lived in an abortion free country, would be much greater, and more than likely deeper in debt.

If abortion is senseless murder, shouldn't war - any war be deemed a senseless murder?

The babies are aborted because they are inconvenient and powerless. If there is one thing history teaches, it is the same fate awaits all who share those characteristics. The ability to turn this ugly holocaust into a virtue scares me as much as anything about our vicious and deceitful species.

Far more pregnancies end in miscarriages than abortions. Why are those lives not sacred as well?

Abortion opponents could greatly reduce the number of abortions preformed by supporting comprehensive sex education and distribution of contraceptives. Sates with the most restrictive sex ed. have the highest unplanned pregnancies.

We all live and die by the decisisions we make I believe ultimately we will all be judged by a much higher power any way you look at it abortion is murder. Some in society have tried to clean it up and package it to Cleanse the whole situation. We live by mans rules which have been corrupt from day one. Science says one thing but morality tells me another. All of our situations differ in life and it's not up to me to judge others on there decissions on this difficult matter this is not a choice matter like choosing to pull the trigger on a gun to end another's life. The gun nor the baby made any choice. Abortion is not for me in most circumstances but if you have the gutts for it that's your decision. Your pretty close to that trigger as well. I'm judging nobody I have closets full of guns papa scallywag taught me to never point a gun at another human unless you are going to pull the triger

This letter has all the earmarks of a common device used by clergy. How many sermons start out with something along the lines of "I am reminded of the person..."? You can then tell any story you like. Sort of like a poor man's parable.

Somebody prove to me that over 90% of abortions are not simply because they are inconveniences to the lifestyle of the woman.

Abortion is 90 percent about ignorance of both participents. I would believe most are preformed on the lower crust of society. So are murders commuted by people who choose to use a gun. Here's a fun fact for all. I wonder how many murders are committed by people using handguns in the non traditional manner holding it sideways. No pistol registration course I ever saw told law abiding citizens to hold a handgun sideways before you pull the trigger and splatter someone's brains. I think it would be fun to look at all murders commuted by a person with a gun and see the percentage committed by skin color and education level. White. Black. And all other. This is not racist don't hit the im telling button. As a minority white man in America I expect to have a percentage as with all other groups

"54% of women having abortions had used a contraceptive method (usually the ****** or the pill) during the month they became pregnant. Among those women, 76% of pill users and 49% of ****** users report having used their method inconsistently, while 13% of pill users and 14% of ****** users report correct use. There is no contraceptive method that can prevent pregnancy 100% of the time. "

"The decision to have an abortion is never simple. The reasons women provide for having an abortion underscores their understanding of the responsibilities of parenthood and family life. Three-fourths of women cite concerns for or responsibility to other individuals; three-fourths say that having a baby would interfere with work, school or the ability to care for dependents; and half say they do not want to be a single parent or are having problems with their husband or partner. Lack of money ranks very high. Many feel the responsible course of action is to wait until their situation is more suited to child rearing; 66% plan to have children when they are older and financially able to provide for a child and/or in a supportive relationship with a partner so their children can have two parents. Others wanted to get pregnant and developed serious medical problems, learned that the fetus had severe abnormalities, or experienced some other personal crisis."

"Most women receiving abortion (83%) are unmarried. Women who have never married obtain two-thirds of all abortions. 16% are separated, divorced, or widowed. Married women are significantly less likely than unmarried women to resolve unintended pregnancies through abortion. About 60% of abortions are obtained by women who have one or more child."

Lone the first two posts were original, maybe go and read them for yourself. Questions were asked, I tried to give answers, if you don't like what I put up put up something of your own. You might try to understand the difference between statistics and opinion.

"Fifty percent of U.S. women obtaining abortion are younger than 25: Women aged 20-24 obtain 33% of all abortions, and teenagers obtain 17%.

37% of abortions occur with black women, 34% with non-Hispanic white women, 22% to Hispanic women and 8% to women of other races.

Women who obtain abortion represent every religious affiliation. 43% of women obtaining abortion identify themselves as Protestant, and 27% as Catholic; and 13% of abortion patients describe themselves as born-again or Evangelical Christians."
