"let's not ban any guns, let's just pass a universal background check bill-stand alone" I would be all for all democrats having get background checks also. Would show they are not fit to hold office or own guns.

"New York Takes Leadership Role Against Guns" really should read "New York Takes Leadership Role Against The Second Amendment". What they passed does nothing to stop gun crime but everything to make law abiding citizens criminals unless they give up what is rightfully theirs. A right granted by the Constitution.

let's not ban any guns, let's just pass a universal background check bill-stand alone, no tax breaks for the rich ammendments, no cuts to medicare etc. Surely no one can argue that. Unless of course, you buy into the rhetoric of wayne's associates- the 8% minority.

Guns can't be that dangerous, I've been to gun shows with 1000 tables and nobody got killed. Come to think of it, I did four combat tours and never got hit even when they were trying with REAL assault weapons.

we need to protect our rights including the 2nd. amendment at all costs. if you think gun bans work, look at the crime and murder rates in chicago, everywhere there are gun bans and more gun control, more people get killed by guns. when will the sheep learn the facts? yes a tragedy happened, but banning guns is not going to change a thing! gun free zones only make you a target. the best defense against criminals who intend to harm is to be armed yourself to defend yourself. fight for your rights before you have none left!

gun reform advocates, especially those who support universal background checks are not confined to NY or California. They represent -once again--92% of the American people and 3 out of every 4 NRA members--insults are meaningless- some need to be more informed get over the rejection in November, and their insults are most telling in these discussions.

It's not sealed yet. Thanks to the lawyers that are taking this bill to court to protect our rights and freedoms. Go to Calif. Cuomo where there are a lot more like you.

heart attacks on golf courses are not caused by metal piecing bullets or assault weapons, and in NY that won't be the problem. Thank you, gov. and assembly[104-43] and senate[43-18].

"I looked this up and was surprised to find lists of deaths on golf courses. It seems that many people are hit by balls and killed, but no exact numbers were given. The golf course is also high on the list for heart attacks. It is number 1 in the cause of death to heart attacks. It seems that 250,000 people die of sudden cardiac arrest which works out to one every 29 seconds. Many of these people are playing golf when this happens. Again, I found no exact numbers dealing only with golf deaths." I think we should start a movement to ban golfing as so many people die from different causes while doing. It's a safty hazard therefore needs to be banned.

Registrer all guns and when somebody shows anti-social behavior like not wanting homosexual scout leaders, go to the house, take the guns and send them for a mental evaluation. That's the future foks.

"In va. over the past 2 years , there have been 130 arrests as a result of background checks--130 attempts to put more guns, and high capacity magazines on the street"

So, the background checks work. I don't think anyone is dyning that. We are talking about BANNING weapons that the BAD GUYS get and do not go through background checks - why is that so hard for you to understand?

And I find it amusing using Dicky Durbin as an advocate for gun control - ever hear of CHICAGO?? Isn't he a representative of Illinois - murder capital of the country, mostly committed by GUNS?

Yes back ground checks might stop a very small percentile of criminals from getting something. That said a lot of the illegal weapons come across the southern border in the middle of the night. Or by boat the same way. These fringe lunatics that want to ban what are now legal weapons have no clue. How has stopping illegal drugs worked so far? By taking them away from the good guys it just opens everyone up to living in fear of the bad guys.

The D senators and reps never have a two sided discussion. They are there to deride and bully the person on the other side. It's what they do and what they are, and what the progs find admirable, made evident by allie's description of Hillary.

In va. over the past 2 years , there have been 130 arrests as a result of background checks--130 attempts to put more guns, and high capacity magazines on the street, squelched by the most obvious, necessary reform, if nothing else. 94% OF Americans and 74% of NRA members agree--do something.

"However, as sen. Durbin stated background checks will prevent those criminals from purchasing sddition arms and high capacity magazines-drums-clips.Just the threat would accomplish that"

So, let me get this straight - Durbin and gioallie truly believe, criminals are going to buy guns, ammo, and mags legally? It's no wonder this country is in trouble.

And of course you believe that and the lying D from Illinois. LaPierre disappointed me when he didn't pounce back on that senator about gun show loopholes. There is no such thing as a gun show loophole. The same law applies there as anywhere in the state. Maybe more, because the owners of the establishment also make some rules. No tannerite for example.

latest poll-92% of Americans support background checks, along with 74% of nra members. In an exchange with sen. Durbin-D,Wayne stated that background checks will not stop criminals from killing--I agree. However, as sen. Durbin stated background checks will prevent those criminals from purchasing sddition arms and high capacity magazines-drums-clips.Just the threat would accomplish that. Back to the poll numbers. Our elected officials were elected for the will of the American people. That said, why is the background check in for the battle of it's life?- And yet the same blame excuse is presented daily on tv-radio-in print--and yes on this blog.

speed, drugs, booze cause most highway deaths, crime. Outlaw booze, drugs and cars that will go fasrer than the speed limit. No citizen has the right to own such stuff because some might abuse it. Prog thinking.
