This is a terrible idea for many reasons. 1)you are taking money out of the pockets of the towns and villages 2)only the individuals who have a connection with prosecutors will get their cases plead down 3)if you can't plead down, and you plead innocent on the ticket, this means the iofficer will need to show up in court. Not only will they get extra pay, but it takes them off the roads. This state needs to concentrate on bigger issues like welfare fraud, medicaid reform, lower taxes.

Jazzie, How many miles a year do you drive? I am driving up to 200 miles a day and trying to get my work done in 8 hours. every once in a while i am going faster than i realize and dont mind paying a fair and reasonable price for screwing up but its getting to be way too much.

And if they didn't add these fines to the budgets, what do you suppose we do with them? Give the money back? Wrong answer! I see nothing wrong with raising the price of a speeding ticket. I have never sped before in my life, no points on my license, and got a rate on my insurance...and I don't go through Geico.

Do you see a fine or tax levy for murder? No, and you can plea down too. This is control and yet another way for tax payers to pay for our lack*****Albany. NYS is falling, and failing its people. We import trouble and tax burden, then tax the people who were born here with everything from pay to food, clothes, to property. There is nothing that we as citizens do not pay for in a tax or fee. Do you think if we dtopped Mr Policeman, or Mr Governor for speeding, he'd pay a fine? I am OK with across the board, I am not OK with picking and chossing and taxing everything except the air we breathe.

If it was to make the streets safer I would be for it, but we all know it is just another tax. You know it is a tax since he includes the increase amount in the budget.

Go ahead and disagree with me, but good for the state. People shouldn't be speeding in the first place, and usually it's the speeders doing the bellyaching that tickets or insurance rates are too high. THEN DON'T SPEED!!! That simple.

hey, how about recent retired cop at about $65000 per year who did nada for this city but milk it dry? you dont need high paid cops issuing tickets, let the $25000/year meter maids do it.

what a crock! Its not that hard to figure out. Quit spending so much and giving away all our money to the lazy welfare people and you wont have to look for ways to steal more money from us.

Just another tax under a different name!

I have seen drivers that are far more dangerous that travel well under the speed limit!

This is all about how do we pay for NY failures, but again, back at the people. It says no negotiation, really? What if truly you were not speeding and the car ahead of you was, or maybe, just maybe, you have a speedometer failure. Certainly not risky behavior there. Again, you are going to pay, no matter what, to live in the declining NYS..taxes, fines, fees, higher name it, we pay it. Time for us tired of the pay as we fail system to look for another more reasonable "state". Where is the paycuts, government cuts, and waste cuts? When our government employs 75% of the labor force, there is a problem NYS.
