The working poor in this state deserve a living wage. I support Gov. Cuomo in this issue and hope they can pass the indexing in the near future.

The minimum wage was NEVER meant to be a "living" wage. It's the "starter" wage for unskilled labor. Here comes the $15 basic cheese pizza, anything else on it is ......extra.

wouldnt the nazis just take people to workcamps and make them work for $0 an hour. Seems like the opposite in a way. More importantly, I agree that the minimum wage should not be seen as a living wage. That doesnt mean it shouldnt go up. It just means that the reasoning should be different.

That may have been true at some point, but certainly isn't today. Far too many employers would jump at the chance of paying people even less if they could. And then there's the employers that pay 25 cents above minimum just so they can say "we don't pay minimum wage."

A Minimum wage worker will always be a mimimum wage worker. You could give them a $20.00 @ hr. raise and they would be stil a minimum wage earner. Have you ever asked yourself why politicans always support a minimum wage raise? It's because all taxes are charged by a % and the larger the pay the more taxes they have to spend. The only ones that make out are the politicians for they have more money to spend to buy votes. The real losser is the minimum wage earner. In the free interprise system everyone has to make a profit, and prices then go up. In 1969 you could buy 5 king size loaves of bread or 5 gallons of gas. How many each can you buy w/$7.25 ? or even $8.75 ??

Instead of a minimum wage increase Gov. Coumo should work hard to make this State a Free Enterprise friendly state that would encourage industry to want to move to NY like The state of Texas..
