Put the shame back into it. Nobody is intitialed to anything they put nothing into the first place. Welfare rolls should be in the paper right next to unpaid poperty tax and police blotter. We should all know who we are paying for.

Sure, askwhy, if someone loses their job they should be publicly humiliated by putting their name in the paper. Why don't we just make them wear a scarlet W on their chests?

ya i don't agree with publishing welfare recipients anymore than i agree with publishing handgun permit owners. they're both stigmatizing.

now if you're advocating for people that are charged with &/or convicted of welfare fraud have their names published, as they already are, then that's fine.

Whats wrong Monkeyboy? Thought we tell people there is no shame in taking handouts? Heck you don't even have to go down to the office anymore to collect it. Now if you can't pay your poperty tax which pays for all this welfare ..they post it and take your house from you. Made homeless by the homeless.

welfare should not last longer than a presidential term if you can't find a job i four years your not looking. If minimum wage won't do it get the baby's momma and daddy on min wage now there is two incomes. I have to go to work every day and live with the bare necessities why do thay get to live better than a working person. If there is something wrong with you go on disability. If you don't like how i feel o well but i am sick every week i get my pay check and than see what public assisted poeple get. Heck i will run the welfare fraud division for free and would take great pride in my work.ban me you like but somthing needs done about it.

Sure askwhy. Shame the shamed.
"Amerigus M. Tyranny, 45 of Jamestown, employed for 20+ years at Such-N-Such Steel, Inc is now collecting welfare benefits, because he couldn't locate a job in this bleak economy. He has no prior records, hard worker who never depended on public assistance but did contribute to it..."

Yea something ought to be done about it. They should be looking into why more things aren't made here in the U.S.A. Our trade isn't exactly balanced. We'd rather support these big box stores that offer deep discounts than local stores that tend to keep things on a local level.

Anyone receiving benefits should work at least 40 hours per week at something. If they do not have a real job then they should do public service. Shovel snow, rake leaves, pick up litter, etc.

Being on welfare is not shameful. Neither is being disabled. None of that implies fraud. So many of these letters blame the victim. As the largest, strongest, richest country in the world, we do have an obligation to take care of our citizens. That doesn't mean fraud is right; it means, we take responsibility as a society.

Did you hear about the blind guy in the bar who wished he could see. Jesus walks in and cures him. THe other guy at the bar says "don't touch me! I'm on disability."

askwhy, that joke is sick. You imply that people prefer being disabled so they won't have to work. You insult every disabled person in this country.
