What is Linda D inferring? That we take care of everyone’s property if the property owner chooses not to? Whatever happened to zoning and code enforcement officers hired by local municiplities to watch for violations? What do they do and why are they hired? Why do local municipalities allow their properties to get into this shape? and, the big question- why is Chautauqua County getting involved in something over which they have ABSOLUTELY NO RESPONSIBILITY? This is a local matter- Zoning and code enforcement officers should be told to do their jobs. Now, the county is in the demolition business when they can’t even afford what they are doing now. And NO Stanleyd. Absolutely not! I understand what you are saying, do you? Google Un Agenda 21 or post sustainability. We don't want non government agencies, not elected or responsibil to the people making these decisions either.

I believe, technically that the land bank is not a government entity. The land bank is a non-profit with special permissions from the state. It is there to work between the governments (local municipalities and county government) and local developers, so actually the land bank is help filling the gap between the government and private sector. The gap is there because the private sector does not buy the properties at the auction or take care of them so they end up at the auction. The land bank also exists because the governments are not set up to be housing landlords. So what carlaw is calling for is pretty much what is happening.

It was private ownership that got these properties into the country land auction in the first place, Carlaw: private owners who let their properties fall into disrepair, didn't pay their taxes, and then walked away. DOH.
