Trail Derailment In Westfield WESTFIELD - A CSX train derailed in Westfield on Feb.3. According to Robert Sullivan, a CSX Railroad spokesperson, the incident happened at about 11:45 a.m. near North Gale Street. The train was on its way to Buffalo from Cleveland. He said the train was 38 rail cars long, but only eight of those cars had left the tracks and none of them had tipped over. Sullivan said the cars were carrying either shipping containers or semi-trailers similar to a trailer that fell off another CSX train on Jan. 29 near Pecor Street in Portland, just a few miles further east on the rail line. Richard Dausum, Westfield Fire Department second assistant chief, said there were no injuries to the two train operators and there was no evidence of a hazardous materials release.
