HAMBURG — Gail McChesney of Cassadaga became the first New York Lottery jackpot winner of 2008 when he scratched the $3 million top prize in the Money Money Money instant game. During an official presentation ceremony at the Hamburg Fairgrounds Gaming and Raceway Wednesday morning, the lottery’s newest drawing personality, Gretchen Dizer, presented McChesney and his wife, Joann, with an oversized prize check, followed by a few questions and a celebratory cake. After playing the lottery for nearly 20 years, McChesney — a 65-year old semi-retired, self-employed contractor who has built garages for most of his life — beat the 1:3,150,000 odds on the $10 Money Money Money scratch off ticket to win. “I bought the ticket because it looked different,” McChesney said. “Usually, I only spend a couple bucks, but it was a miserable day and I decided to splurge a little.
