Sandy Elander, stylist, is celebrating 40 years as owner of Sugar ‘n Spice Beauty Salon, located at 110 N. Main St., Jamestown.

When it comes to hair styles and cuts, Sugar ‘n Spice has had everything nice for 40 years in downtown Jamestown. The beauty salon, located at 110 N. Main St., is owned by Sandy Elander, who has been cutting hair for 45 years. In her walkable downtown location, Ms. Elander said she has seen a lot of changes through the years — some positive, some negative. The business owner said she is still happy to be located centrally along Main Street. ‘‘I’ve been through a lot of changes downtown. From different businesses to different restaurants to different banks,’’ she said. ‘‘It’s a little harder to be downtown now, but I still like it. It has been getting better recently downtown.’’ Ms. Elander, along with stylist Karen Williams, are available from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, with walk-ins welcomed or haircuts by appointment by calling 664-6103. Ms. Elander said the salon cuts men’s, women’s and children’s hair from curly to straight to dyed. Ms.
