| | Frank's Forecast #4October 1, 2010 - Mike FrankTurning the calendar page, it's time for once again for some picking (and hopefully grinning) As for the previous week's effort, I managed 6-2 for high school, 5-1 for college and 11-5 for the NFL. That adds up to 22-8 for the week. Overall, I'm up to 62-28. I moved up a couple spots in the Smack Talk battle, which appears each Friday in our print edition. Also, hope you like the fancy new look of our online edition. All right, enough shilling for the company, HEEERE we go: HIGH SCHOOL Class AA West Seneca West (0-4) at Jamestown (3-1) — Three shutouts in a row and a winles oppoent on tap? Sounds more like Thanksgiving than Homecoming. But with that additional incentive — JAMESTOWN by 21 Class B East Aurora (1-3) at Dunkirk (2-2) — Maurauders seem to be moving the right direction — DUNKIRK by 14 Class C Allegany-Limestone (1-3) at Fredonia (4-0) — Hillbillies proving to be strong competition in Class C South — FREDONIA by 21 Cassadaga Valley (1-3) at Southwestern (4-0) — Trojans add to streak as they prepare for clash with Fredonia next week — SOUTHWESTERN by 21 Falconer (1-3) at Salamanca (2-2) — Golden Falcons try to bounce back, while Salamanca looks to extend win streak — FALCONER by 7 Class D Ellicottville (1-3) at Randolph (4-0) — Cardinals are flying higher than Eagles these days — RANDOLPH by 21 Frewsburg (3-1) at Pine Valley (2-2) — Bears have three big wins so far, while PV has been up and down — FREWSBURG by 14 Chautauqua Lake (3-1) at Maple Grove (3-1) — Both teams' defeat came at the hands of Silver Creek. Red Dragons have home field advantage so — MAPLE GROVE by 7 Sherman (2-1) at Silver Creek (3-0) — Wildcats living up to their name with two multi-OT wins, while Black Knights are looking to be for real — SILVER CREEK by 10 Panama (0-4) at Clymer (0-4) — Somebody gets their first win of the season. I've picked the Panthers the last couple weeks. Third time's a charm — PANAMA by 7 COLLEGE Lots of good matchups, plus the Big Ten starts conference play! #2 Ohio State (4-0) at Illinois (2-1) — Not expecting 70 points this week, but Bucks have had some scares in Champaign — OHIO STATE #7 Florida (4-0) at #1 Alabama (4-0) — UF is having a dropoff since Lil Timmy Tebow is playing on Sundays. Bama earned a win over a top-10 oppenent last week, while UF (reverse the initials) scraped by Kentucky — ALABAMA #9 Stanford (4-0) at #4 Oregon (4-0) — ABC's primetime game, with GameDay on hand in Euguene as well. Rare air for the Cardinal, but I think they're up to it — STANFORD #21 Texas (3-1) at #8 Oklahoma (4-0) — If Longhorns can't beat UCLA at home, they certainly can't win the Red River Shootout. (Not "Rivalry" as they've wimped out and called it recently) — OKLAHOMA #11 Wisconsin (4-0) at #24 Michigan State (4-0) — Badgers haven't been 5-0 since 1999 (days of Ron Dayne). Dantonio returns to the sidelines this week, so this should be a dandy. With OSU on the Big Ten network, this will have my attention — WISCONSIN
PRO Denver (1-2) at Tennessee (2-1) — Neither team has looked good, but the Titans will win if they hang on to the ball— TITANS Detroit (0-3) at Green Bay (2-1) — Rodgers & Co. tame the Detroit Kitties — PACKERS NY Jets (2-1) at Buffalo (0-3) — Bills won't be much of a challenge for the "Sanchize" — JETS Seattle (2-1) at St. Louis (1-2) — Rams took down Washington last week, and I love picking against Pete Carroll – RAMS San Francisco (0-3) at Atlanta (2-1) — Niners are the worst in a bad division — FALCONS Baltimore (2-1) at Pittsburgh (3-0) — Big Ben will be coming back to an undefeated team — STEELERS Carolina (0-3) at New Orleans (2-1) — Panthers are just plain bad — SAINTS Cincinnati (2-1) at Cleveland (0-3) — Bengals take the Battle of Ohio — BENGALS Houston (2-1) at Oakland (1-2) — Texans bounce back since Oakland can't even make easy FGs — TEXANS Indianapolis (2-1) at Jacksonville (1-2) — Jaguars are another bad team — COLTS Arizona (2-1) at San Diego (1-2) — Chargers probably get back to .500 — CHARGERS Washington (1-2) at Philadelphia (2-1) — Ah, the McNabb Bowl — REDSKINS Chicago (3-0) at NY Giants (1-2) — Bears paid off for me last week, so stick with em — BEARS New England (2-1) at Miami (2-1) — If the Bills can come within eight, the Dolphins can do better — DOLPHINS Back soon. Maybe one of these days I'll discuss something non sports and be SPEAKING FRANKLY Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article. Post a Comment | in: News, Blogs & Events Web |
