Frank's Forecast #3

September 24, 2010 - Mike Frank

Another Friday, another round of prognostications!

Checking last week's outcomes, I went 9-1 in high school, 2-2 in college, and 9-7 for the NFL for a total of 20-10. Notice a pattern there? Seriously, could we have a little consistency on Sundays? Sheesh.

Anyway, adding in week one, I am now 40-20 on the year. (I knocked off a win and a loss, because, well, it's my blog, and it's cool to have the same record two weeks in a row.)

High school games this week feature some matchups that could prove disheartening to area fans, especially in Class D. Hard to believe they're already halfway through the regular season.

College features some good matchups down South and what should be another cakewalk for the Buckeyes. Hopefully, if E. Michigan brings a mascot he leaves Brutus alone. Although I expect stadium security will taser first and ask questions later.

HEEEERE we go:

HIGH SCHOOL

CLASS AA

Jamestown (2-1) at Niagara Falls (2-1) — Red Raiders looked good. This one is non league (aka interdivision) and is what we old folks call a "matinee" (Saturday afternoon). Staying on the JHS bandwagon — JAMESTOWN by 10

CLASS C

Southwestern (3-0) at Allegany-Limestone (1-2) — Trojans swing the Gators by tha tail — SOUTHWESTERN by 21

Fredonia (3-0) at Falconer (1-2) — Golden Falcons were blanked last week, while the "Billies" shut out Gowanda. Momentum seems to be with visitors — FREDONIA by 10

CLASS D

Frewsburg (2-1) at Forestville (0-3) — Bears get a win (at Silver Creek's field) — FREWSBURG by 20

Clymer (0-3) at Maple Grove (2-1) — Red Dragons working with a week of rest — MAPLE GROVE by 20

Westfield (3-0) at Chautauqua Lake (2-1) — Both coming off wins, so this should be a tight game. Wolverines aren't scoring a lot, but enough to win. — WESTFIELD by 6

Sherman (2-1) at Panama (0-3) — The Wildcats were Westfield's victim last week, and Panama lost to CL. DiDomenico breaks through this week I think. This one is Saturday afternoon. — PANAMA by 7

Franklinville (0-3) at Randolph (3-0) — Cardinals add another to win streak — RANDOLPH by 20

COLLEGE

I could include the OSU game for a free win, but I'll be nice. Besides, next week starts conference play.

#16 Stanford (3-0) at Notre Dame (1-2) — Stanford's QB (Andrew Luck) tops luck of the Irish. Fake field goal anyone? — STANFORD by 14

#1 Alabama (3-0) at #10 Arkansas (3-0) —Tide and Hogs go at it. Should be entertaining — ALABAMA by 10

#12 South Carolina (3-0) at #17 Auburn (3-0) — Spurrier has the Gamecocks crowing. Auburn escaped against Clemson. Go with the man in the visor — SOUTH CAROLINA by 3

#22 West Virginia (3-0) at #15 LSU (3-0) — LSU hasn't had a non-conference loss since 2000. — LSU by 7

Oregon State (1-1) at #3 Boise State (2-0) — Yes, Broncos will win, and yes they're overrated — BOISE STATE by 21

North Carolina State (3-0) at Georgia Tech (2-1) — ACC matchup features another "sleeper" Since my high school was the Wolves, go with the Wolfpack — NC STATE by 10

———————

Cincinnati (1-1) at Carolina (0-2) — Easy street for TO and Ochocinco — BENGALS

San Francisco (0-2) at Kansas City (2-0) — Arrowhead returning to its loud old days — CHIEFS

Pittsburgh (2-0) at Tampa Bay (2-0) — Charlie Batch? Tommy Maddox wasn't available? But wins are wins — STEELERS

Detroit (0-2) at Minnesota (0-2) — Pillow fight of the week — VIKINGS

Washington (1-1) at St. Louis (0-2) — 'Skins shear the Rama-Lama-Ding-Dongs — REDSKINS
