Mega Event

Apple has officially announced an up coming press event for Tuesday October 22nd. This date was previously leaked in a fairly substantial rumor by the Wall Street Journal's 'All Things D' blog. The event is to be held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, CA. It is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. PDT, 1 p.m. EDT.

While most everyone involved with Apple rumors is in agreement, this event will likely show new iPads - the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2. This event could also become a mega-event if Apple shows off other products due for updating.

After showing off the new iPad models, Apple still has yet to show updated MacBook Pros with Intel's latest processor, aka Haswell. Apple released new MacBook Air models in June and updated iMacs last month. Along with the MBP the Mac mini is also due ripe for the new Haswell chips.

Back in June, during their WWDC event, Apple previewed the next version of OS X called Mavericks. They also previewed the completely redesigned Mac Pro. Both of these could be part of the event next Tuesday.

If Apple decides on a mega-event for Tuesday, it is quite conceivable that might be a 2+ hour-long event. I for one am looking forward to Tuesday. If not for new speedier iPads, but to finally see the Mac Pro in all its video powered glory.
