T-Minus TWO Months!
March 11, 2013 - Liz Skoczylas
Oh my goodness, this wedding is TWO months from today! This is starting to get really-really-real!
Over the weekend, I had a hair trial. My hair was curled, teased, hairsprayed and basically superglued into a position that is supposed to not fall out on our actual wedding day. After the hair trial, I made sure to show off my 'do as I ran errands around town.
I had debated whether I wanted to take my hair down before going home, or if it was ok for Nick to see. Because, hair technically IS a part of the wedding look. But, I figured that he'd probably forget before the wedding, anyway. As it is, I was home about 45 minutes before he even said anything about my hair. (To be fair to him, though, I did feed him when I got home, so he was too preoccupied with lunch to notice my hair.)
It's just hard to believe that we are now picking off the little things, like the hair trial. And, this weekend, our bridal shower and my bachelorette!
I'm really excited, because my matron of honor, Emily, will be in town Thursday night. I haven't seen her since last summer, because she lives in New Jersey, so I'm getting really excited just to have her around! Plus, two of my other four bridesmaids will be here as well. One is still questionable, but she is having some health-related problems right now, so she just needs to focus on herself! And, the other doesn't even live in the U.S., so getting here for just the shower is wayyyyy less important than getting here for the actual wedding... In TWO months!
One of the things that I found strange when I was living in Pennsylvania is that, in that area at least (Allentown-area), they do surprise bridal showers. Here, that's not something I had even heard of. In fact, the first bridal shower I went to in Allentown, I almost blew it and told the bride, because I didn't know they threw surprise showers!
So, being a good sport, as Emily's maid of honor in 2011, I helped throw her a surprise bridal shower. But, it took a lot of convincing to get Emily to NOT throw me a surprise shower, just because it's not something we do in this area. So, even though I know the date, time and location, I don't know anything else. In fact, it took me a lot of convincing to even see the invitation (which Emily made super-cute, by the way. I would share it on here, but, sorry blog readers, I'm not going to share where my shower will be held....).
I'm also looking forward to Saturday night, because, while I know it's going to be my bachelorette party, I know absolutely nothing else! I am just excited to get into a few shenanigans with some of my good friends, before married life truly hits in two months!
