Two New iPads

October 24, 2012 - Dave Hecei

Most everyone expected to see a new iPad during today's and they were not disappointed. It took a while to get to this new mini iPad. Apple also announced a smaller Retina MacBook Pro, new iMacs, and new Mac mini. At the end, Apple actually showed off an updated iPad with Retina Display along with the new iPad mini.

The Retina iPad now has the new Lightning dock port along with an A6X processor. It still has a 9.7-inch display that shows 2048-by-1536 pixels. The iPad uses the dual-core A5 processor and has a 7.9-inch display that shows 1024-by-768 pixels.

The Retina iPad and the iPad mini are available with 16, 32, or 64GB of storage. They are both available in a WiFi only model, or cellular/GPS model for a bit more money.

The iPad Retina will start at $499. The iPad mini will start at $329. In a bit of a surprise, Apple will keep the iPad 2 in the lineup - only two models (32GB with or without 3G cellular data).
