October 24, 2012 - Dave Hecei
Along with a new smaller Retina based MacBook Pro, Apple has just introduced a new updated Mac mini. This is the least expensive Macintosh computer but is still very powerful with plenty of ports and features.

Physically, the Mac mini has not changed. The back of the mini, where you'll find the ports, has changed a bit. Starting on the left is the power port, Gigabit Ethernet, Firewire 800, HDMI video out, Thunderbolt, four USB 3.0 ports, an SD memory card slot, and audio in and out ports.

Based on the new Intel Ivy Bridge chipset, inside you will find either a Dual or quad-core i5 or i7, Intel HD Graphics 4000, up to 16GB of RAM, up to 1TB HD or 256GB of flash. Starts at 2.5GHz dual-core i5, 4GB, 500GB HDD, $599. Server config is 2.3GHz quad-core i7, 4GB of RAM, Two 1TB HD OS X server, $999.
