JRC, Jamestown Up Close To Soon Release Exciting Video

The video is a compilation of stories and activities that likely will spark an interest in Jamestown and surroundings, but just as importantly, it is a testament to why our area is important to us.

It all started when physician recruitment was determined to be a significant community need by the Health Care Action Team (HCAT), a group appointed by the City’s Strategic Planning and Partnerships Commission. HCAT recognized that an up-to-date, professional video about our community would assist organizations to recruit physicians to our area. Dr. Lillian Vitanza Ney, Chair of HCAT and co-chair of the Jamestown Renaissance Corporation (JRC), took the request for a recruitment video to the JRC. After meeting with various community groups, the JRC decided to take on the project itself, hiring Kranky Plate Productions to lead the production.

Once complete, it was determined that the video could be used more broadly – to recruit all types of professionals to our area, as well as to instill a sense of pride for people living in our community.  The community vision that Jamestown is a great place to live, work, play, and raise a family is accurately demonstrated in the video.

The direction to Kranky Plate principals Kipp Reynolds and Sheridan Smith was to interview young professionals and find out their experience in either returning to Jamestown after a hiatus or relocating to Jamestown from another area. The result was just what the Doctor ordered!

“We wanted to really capture the feeling of our area in an honest, organic way.  We experience all four seasons, so it made sense to spend a year getting coverage of the different environments and activities that our area offers. We strived to have a genuine conversation with the interview subjects and because of that, their optimism is not forced-it is authentic and it comes through in the video.'” states Kipp Reynolds, Owner and Executive Producer of Kranky Plate Productions.

Kelly McDonald, Director of Physician Management at Great Lakes Physician Practice, PC, states “I love having this resource as an introduction to our area and as a reminder to local professionals that we have a really supportive community. I am excited to see this video resource in action! Having a professionally produced “commercial” to show off our area is one more way that the Jamestown Renaissance Corporation/Jamestown Up Close is supporting our businesses and the people who are making Jamestown grow.”

UPMC Chautauqua WCA Hospital’s Vice President of Medical Affairs, Dr. Marlene Garone adds “we appreciate everyone’s hard work in developing this video that highlights the pearls of our community. Physician recruitment is a priority for members of our health care community and we are confident that this will assist us in our recruitment efforts”.

We live in a beautiful area with special people, and there is much good that can be found here. Many people work hard every day to better our community. In addition to its original vision for recruitment purposes, we hope this video will serve as an inspiration and a catalyst to appreciate the good in our area and to help inspire us to continue to make our community better.
