The Swamp Is Not Only In Washington

To The Reader’s Forum:

America … Wake Up!

The average citizen of this great country should start fighting against the future of the “swamp” and the “deep state.” I believe that people wait too long to rebel when some things go wrong.

I was a registered Democrat from the early 1960s until President Obama was elected. I was happy to see the first black president voted in to be president. I thought being the first black president he would heal our country, but he didn’t. Then, when Congress rushed through the Obamacare health plan, I wondered what was next. Well, it was the stimulus package — shovel-ready jobs, remember?

I sat down with a number two pencil and a yellow legal pad and started to figure out what a trillion dollars would look like. Well, after a couple of pencils, I figured it out. I worked on the west side of Erie, Pa., for three years. It was 60 miles from my house to my place of work. One dollar placed on the edge of the road from my house would go all the way to the Erie airport equalling one trillion dollars. Hard to believe!

When I called Mayville to change my voter registration, they said they would mail me a form. Then I told my friend about my decision. He asked me if I was going to be a Republican. I said no. They are almost as bad as the Democrats. Let me tell you my fears.

First, the swamp is not only in Washington, D.C., but throughout all governments and states. Vote out the bad politicians that promise everything to get elected and then deliver on nothing. Then, there’s the deep state. That is scary. The old, established families do not want to give up power. They want to support Congress on what they want. They don’t care about you or me — the average citizen. The Bushes, Romneys, Kennedys, Clintons and the rich and big businesses: they want cheap labor, want to tell us how to live, what to eat and whom to vote for. They think we are all stupid! Well, I didn’t go far in school, but later in my life, I found out some of the most educated people are narrowminded with no common sense, nor are they logical.

Support the Constitution, the First Amendment, the Second Amendment for priority of life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.

Your faithful patriotic citizen,

David A. Crandall Sr.
