‘What Is Truth?’ Is Still A Relevant Question

To The Reader’s Forum:

In springtime in the early 30’s A.D., Roman governor Pilate asked Jesus: ‘What is truth?’. It’s still a relevant question as we sift through news. Investigative journalism is rare today in a media obsessed with sensationalism, one sided opinions and hidden agendas.

Three of seven items on God’s abomination list are lies and false reports Proverbs 6:16-19. Jesus was lied about throughout his ministry by those who felt threatened by him. It all came to a climax when he was arrested.

The religious leaders brought false accusations against Jesus and later charged him with blasphemy for his confession that he was Messiah and the Son of God. That false charge proved to be the final blow that that led to his crucifixion. In irony, they had rejected the one who could give them acceptance with God through his perfect blood sacrifice.

After his resurrection, they bribed the Roman soldiers to say that the disciples had stolen the body. This fake news story was widely circulated along with various other conspiracy theories. However, the truth has prevailed for nearly 2000 years. Josh McDowell was a skeptic who spent 700 hours to check the veracity of the resurrection story. He concluded it was not the most heartless hoax foisted upon the minds of men but the most fantastic fact of history.

After the death of Jesus, his disciples hid in fear, but after they saw the risen Christ, they boldly proclaimed his Lordship in the very city where he was crucified. Most of them later died as martyrs for Christ because they knew that his resurrection was not fake news but the most fantastic fact of history!
