Help Fill Care Packages For Troops On Saturday

To The Reader’s Forum:

Imagine giving 1,068 gifts this year….

That number represents the care packages that the NY4 Blue Star Mothers (with the kind and generous support of this community) have been privileged to send this past year! Think of it – 1068 packages received and opened by military heroes who could not spend various holidays with their families and friends this past year. Do we think these packages make a difference? Read this note written to us by the leader of a platoon we were privileged to adopt this past year:

It is our absolute pleasure to serve. We wish we could do more especially with all that is going on in the world. The care packages assembled by you and fellow contributors have greatly decreased the stress of repacking personal bags. The toiletries, snacks, gym clothes, and reading/puzzle materials will absolutely be put to great use. The smiles from the Soldiers from the letters and drawings from the students were priceless. For a few Soldiers, your care packages were the only mail they received. It means so much – It’s beyond heartwarming! Your packages most certainly were a morale booster and the taste of home they need. Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers, and for your continued support!

As we receive dozens of such notes from our troops, we know that yes, these care packages absolutely make a difference! We will again be packing these boxes filled with goodies, appreciation, and Christmas wishes for our troops on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 9 AM, at Fluvanna Community Church, 3363 Fluvanna Avenue (Jamestown). We would be honored to have you partner with us in this incredible opportunity to support those troops who will be away from home this holiday season. If you are interested in donating goods or money toward postage, please email us at bluestarmothersny4@yahoo.com, or call us at (716) 450-5593.

Consider taking part in this project, and we promise that you will help make someone’s holiday less lonely this year!
