Safe Space For Drug Addicts Is Not A Good Idea

To The Readers’ Forum:

We are well aware of the drug addiction of many of our adults and children in Jamestown and the surrounding areas. This scourge creeps into too many neighborhoods and families. This problem manifested itself from the 1960s drug culture and it reached across the generations to present time. We are inundated with a myriad of illicit drug choices within all social classes. For children the results are devastating and little if any relief will rescues them from a never ending nightmare. Drug addiction of parents torments and destroys children, families and societies. Yet after decades of illicit prescription and drug dependency the solutions are as scarce as the drugs are plenty.

Children have become the colloidal damage and have become invisible to those who should care. The courts provide little protection for them as the emphases is giving the parents too many chances to appear and comply. To these parents there are no consequences for their unwillingness to change their careless and reckless behaviors and the children continue to suffer.

Recently we were informed that a proposal by the state for providing a place for addicts to do their thing compliments from the taxpayer! This would solve nothing and is idiotic at best. Would these addicts take their children with them to this addict heaven or would we also provide daycare too!

Until we as a society decide what kind of a country we want it will always be business as usual no changes will be made and no consequences will prevail in the court systems and bad behavior at the children’s expense will continue. Families will fail and our society will sink lower and lower.

Don’t you think it is time for a new plan? Until our representatives step up and advance a solution that makes sense and is cost effective our future as a nation will weaken and children will have no chance for the American dream. If you agree then contact all your representatives and tell them how you feel. Your opportunity is only an e-mail or phone call away.
