Humbling Lessons Learned

To The Readers’ Forum:

I was hopeful when I tried to run as a candidate for the office of Mayor of Jamestown, but it did not take too long to realize how futile such an effort is. The only way I could compete is to form an independent political party and submit nomination petitions with three hundred signatures within a certain period of time. Without a support group, I learned the humiliating lesson of how impossible such a task was. After three weeks of efforts, I came to the realization that Mr. Teresi is going to be unopposed this term.

Humbling realization leaves still questions that I raised the past several weeks: passage of a local law creating term limits for the office of the mayor and members of the City Council; creating a salary cap for elected officials and revitalizing the downtown.
