There Are Plenty Of Positives Heading Into The New Year

Old habits are hard to break. That’s usually the opposite case with resolutions, which are tough to keep.

So, in changing are sometimes negative attitudes about good things not happening in Western New York, let’s attempt to be more positive as we move into a new year this 2018. There are good things happening across the county. These include:

¯ Work continuing on the National Comedy Center, which is receiving federal, state and local funding so we can be the Cooperstown of Comedy.

¯ Progress on the Athenex project in Dunkirk, which has the potential to bring 900 jobs to the north county region.

¯ Hopes for the reopening of the Cockaigne ski center, which is one more reason for our area to celebrate our snowfall.

¯ A continued push for regionalism, especially with Chautauqua County being in the running for $20 million for additional consolidation efforts.

¯ Expansion efforts continue at Fieldbrook Foods in Dunkirk and Monofrax in Falconer.

Of course, we also hope small business can build on these developments in our downtowns and well as our rural areas.

Happy new year.
