Change To Tax Structure Can Keep Workers Local

To The Reader’s Forum:

We are hearing a lot lately about changing the corporate tax structure.

We also hear about an increase in the use of robots in plants that will significantly reduce workers in the coming years.

I think that a good tax structure would take this fact into consideration and reward those businesses that kept their workers. We could do this by having a graduated tax structure based on the number of employees in the business. As an example, a company that has a gross profit of $50 million but only has 2 employees, might pay 35% tax rate, but if they had 1,000 employees, they might pay a 15% tax rate.

This would cause companies to consider the impact on their workforce as part of their automation decisions.

Contact your Senator and Representative if you think this is a good idea.
