Reed’s Work On Health Care To Be Commended
U.S. Rep. Tom Reed, R-Corning, came under fire earlier this year for supporting Republican efforts to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.
Reed was doing the right thing then, and he’s doing the right thing now in trying to fix insurance coverage issues after Republican efforts to implement a new health care bill have failed.
The Problem Solvers Caucus, a group co-chaired by Reed and Josh Gottheimer, D-N.J., are trying to help make health care coverage more affordable under the Affordable Care Act. Reed said taking on the destabilized individual health insurance market is the current problem facing the country.
We’re sure one message Reed heard very clearly from those who attended town hall meetings in Stow and Busti earlier this year is the importance of health care coverage. We’re glad to see Reed show the ability to pivot from his preferred solution to a stopgap measure that will hopefully lower the price of health coverage under the Affordable Care Act.
