A Time To Look At Each Other With Less Malice And A Lot More Love

After the last blast of snow and cold we received about a week ago, it is refreshing to see signs of spring all around us as we celebrate Easter today.

Those who aren’t particularly religious will join their religious neighbors today in celebrating the general themes of rebirth and renewal at the core of the religious observances of Easter. Those signs are all around us. Flowers and plants are beginning to bloom after their winter’s slumber. Trees are blooming. The days are warmer.

Easter Sunday has a deeper meaning for many who will celebrate today the resurrection of Jesus Christ and his promise of eternal life to all who accept him. Those of the Jewish faith will soon celebrate Passover, celebrating the freedom of Hebrew slaves of Egypt.

We live in a time when religious divisions are deep in our nation and our world. It is so easy to see the differences in our religious beliefs that we struggle to adhere to the best values of whichever religion one chooses to believe. However you choose to celebrate this Easter Sunday, let us also heed the words of John 13:34 — “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.”

Maybe looking at each other with less malice and more love in our hearts will make our world a little better place to live for all of us. What a rebirth that would be.

Happy Easter.
