Please Help This Holiday

Chautauqua County, and the Jamestown area in particular, have been reminded repeatedly in the past several months that poverty is high in our little corner of the world.

During this time of the year, the news that our area is trying to wrap its arms around just how tight a grip poverty has on our area and the development of plans to eradicate poverty obscure a very real fact. There are thousands of men and women for whom Christmas could be just another day of pinching pennies — unless we help.

Helping is something for which our little corner of the world is known for; whether it’s volunteering for benefits throughout the year or coming through for any of the numerous holiday benefits that we see popping up around us in November and December. Dozens of organizations, some formed just to help the needy during the holidays, provide links between us and those who need — and richly deserve — our help.

Please, do not let the hustle and bustle of the season make you forget to make a generous donation to one of those campaigns.

Your Christmas will be brighter and warmer because of it.
