MAYVILLE — Janice L. “Cricket” Rothwell, 51, of Clearwater, Fla., and formerly of Mayville, died unexpectedly on March 4, 2019, at the Mease Countryside Hospital in Palm Harbor, Fla.

She was born Sept. 16, 1967, in Westfield, N.Y., the daughter of James and Norma Ferguson Linger.

Cricket enjoyed the beach, marine life and fishing. She had a great passion for animals, a devotion to family and friends, and loved all little children. She took pleasure in reaching new levels on Candy Crush! She had a green thumb, everything she touched bloomed. Cricket always looked for opportunities to help those less fortunate than herself. She loved to laugh and have fun, enjoyed music and dancing…and Randy’s.

She is survived by her husband; Daniel F Rothwell, whom she married Feb. 21, 2006, in Mayville; a son. Ronald Hall; her parents. James and Norma Linger; three sisters; Sandy Freleigh, Cindy Murray and Jamie Ratzlaff; one brother, James Linger; and two grandchildren: Juliana and Talon McDonald.

Cricket was preceded in death by a brother; George Ferguson.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2019, at 1 p.m., at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S. Erie St). The Rev. Mark Latta will officiate. Burial will be in the Mayville Cemetery.

Friends will be invited to call on Wednesday, March 13, from 7-9 p.m., at the funeral home.
