Arlene Kay Cunningham

Arlene Kay Cunningham (Prinney), 63, formerly of Jamestown, N.Y., peacefully passed away in her home in Tampa, Fla., on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019, surrounded by love.

She was born June 8, 1955, in Jamestown, N.Y., the daughter of Arder Cunningham and the Rev. Pearl L. Cunningham.

Arlene obtained an associate’s degree in applied science from Jamestown Community College. After winning a Coca Cola Share the Dream Scholarship, she majored in Chemistry while attending NC A&T State University in Greensboro, N.C. Finally, Arlene became and worked as a licensed practical nurse, until she retired from the Head Trauma Unit at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, Pa.

Arlene was a dedicated and loving mother, who always worked hard to provide for her children. She was a woman of impeccable character and faith, who always said what she meant and meant what she said. She was also incredibly kind and would willingly go without to give to someone in need. She enjoyed riding the bus with Chauncey, drinking coffee, listening to music, watching Tyler Perry’s Madea in movies and plays, and building her family tree.

Arlene is survived by her partner Chauncey Harfield of Pittsburgh, Pa.; children: L. Jason Jackson of Tampa, FL and Racine Y. Cunningham of Charlotte, N.C.; mother: Reverend Pearl L. Cunningham of Buffalo, N.Y.; siblings: S. Racine Leverette of Charlotte, N.C., Richard Cunningham of Greensboro, N.C., Lisa Cunningham Graham of Buffalo, N.Y., and Tiffany Cunningham of Baton Rouge, LA; and much-loved grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Arlene was preceded in death by her father, Arder Cunningham; her brother, Clyde Alan Cunningham; and her beloved daughter Rashanda L. Cunningham -Parham.
