Philip J. Tumminia
Philip J. Tumminia passed away Nov. 24, 2018, in Livorno, Italy, after a sudden illness. He left us doing two of his favorite things cruising and visiting Italy.
He was born Sept. 23, 1942, in Jamestown, N.Y., to Phil and Josephine Tumminia.
He was a graduate of Jamestown High School class of 1960 and earned an associates degree from Jamestown Community College. He married Lois Bates in 1963, and raised his family in Bemus Point for over 20 years. He retired from Blackstone Corporation after almost 30 years of service, moving up from a lab tech to vice president of sales. He and his wife, Lois, moved to Florida in 1996. Once there, he started and operated a successful business doing wholesale watch repair for many local jewelry stores for 20 years.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Moose, the American Legion and the Sons of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Philip enjoyed traveling and meeting new people. He loved raising his family out in the country and attending their sporting events. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing and spending time with his family.
He survived by his wife, Lois of 55 years; sons: Andrew (Pamela) and Peter Tumminia; as well as his daughter, Maria Natiello (Michael); grandaughters: Laurel and Johanna; brother: Dennis (Shirley); brother-in-law, Thomas Bates (Tammy); as well as several nieces and nephews.
A service will be held in Ewing Chapel at Toale Brothers Funeral Home at 140 East Venice Ave., Venice, Fla., at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Dec. 8.
