Eugene Joseph Schauman

Eugene J. Schauman, 91, of the Frewsburg Rest Home, formerly of Townline Road, Jamestown, passed away Saturday (Oct. 20, 2018) in Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing Home.

He was born May 26, 1927, in Dearborn, Mich., the son of the late John S. and Clara Liskey Schauman.

Eugene attended high school in Dearborn, Mich., and proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. In earlier years, he had been employed by MRC-TRW and Jamestown Sterling. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Kings Windows serving as general manager.

He was a member of the Sylvan Lodge 303, F&AM, Consistory, Jamestown Shiners and he earned his 32 F&AM. Eugene was also a member of the Jamestown Elks Lodge, Jamestown Moose Lodge, Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and War Vets Recreation. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, painting and was a “Jack of all trades.” He was always willing to lend someone a helping hand.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Marie (Samuelson) Schauman, whom he married Aug. 25, 1948, in Jamestown; two sons: David (Janice) Schauman of Jamestown, and Gary (Deborah) Schauman of Cassadaga; nine grandchildren: Corey (Danielle) Schauman, Christopher (Sarah) Schauman, Dustin (Jenine) Schauman, Autumn (Brent) Daldo, Joshua Schauman, Josiah Schauman, Anna (Jeffrey) Lane, Simeon Schauman and Jordan Schauman; 13 great- grandchildren; four great- great-grandchildren; four brothers: John Schauman, Robert Schauman, Jim Schauman and Donald Schauman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Hope Schauman; a brother, Paul Schauman; a sister, Maxine Schauman; two half-brothers: Walter Schauman and Bernerd Brockman; and a half-sister, Gertrude Stefnon.

The family will receive friends from 9:30-11 a.m., Saturday in the Falconer Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
