Daniel Paul Abbott
RANDOLPH, N.Y. — Daniel Paul Abbott, 55, of Center Street, Randolph, passed away, Sunday (Aug. 12, 2018) at Olean General Hospital with complications to cancer.
He was born Dec. 17, 1962, in Salamanca, the son of Russell A. and Ethelann Rose (Evans) Abbott of Randolph.
Dan was a 1981 graduate of Randolph Central School, where he excelled at golf, football and bowling. He attended Jamestown Community College.
He was currently employed by the Seneca Allegany Casino in Salamanca as a supervisor in retail sales. In earlier years, he owned and operated Abbotts Randolph Inn and Sammy’s Diner in Randolph and worked throughout the years at various restaurants. He also worked as a youth counselor for New Directions in Randolph, Point Chautauqua as their food service manager, Jamestown Pipe and Supply and The Connection as CSR supervisor.
Dan was a mommunicant of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Randolph, and was a charter member of the Randolph Historical Society. He will be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor, concern for others and he was a loyal and dear friend to many. He loved to read and was a huge fan of the Oakland Raiders and Buffalo Sabres.
He is survived by his parents, Russ and Ethelann of Randolph; three brothers: Samuel Peter Abbott II of Endicott, N.Y., Russell Patrick Abbott of Norfolk, Va., and John Phillip Abbott of Randolph; three nephews: Sam Peter Abbott III, Brandon Michael Abbott and Bronson Timothy Abbott.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday (Aug. 17, 2018) in the VAN RENSSELAER and SON FUNERAL HOME, 14 Church St., Randolph. The Rev. Joseph Janaczek will officiate. Inurnment will be in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Randolph.
The family will receive family and friends two hours prior to the service at 1 p.m.
