Charles Bender of Cookesville, Tenn., passed away July 4, 2018, on his birthday in Vanderbuilt Hospital.
He ws born July 4, 1945, the son of Ralph and Linnea Bender.
Growing up, he went to North Fulton High School and later moved in his sister, Pat’s home and attended Edinboro University. He later worked at Jamestown Metal Corporation. Eventually he worked with his dad and brother at Ralph Bender and Associates.
Chuck loved his family very much and was a devoted father and husband. Another major joy in his life was fishing. Anytime there was a free moment, he’s put the canoe on his car and was gone for the day.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Susan Q. Bender; two sons: Keith (Amy) Bender of Idaho and Sean (Jo) Bender of Cookeville, Tenn.; two sisters: Pat Johnson and Karen Warner; and many nieces and nephews.
Chuck went to the Y daily for health issues and met many wonderful friends. He had a great landlord, Jack, that he admired.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Linnea Bender; two brothers: Ron (Divian) and Bud (Joan) Bender; and a sister, Kay (Ken) Ross.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date on Chautauqua Lake.
