Joyce P. VanRensselaer, RN

Joyce P. VanRensselaer, 94, residing at the Lutheran Retirement Home, died June 21, 2018.

She was the widow of Philip N. VanRensselaer, former Falconer Police Chief, whom she married May 26, 1945, in Cherry Creek, and who died Oct. 2, 1977.

A lifelong resident, Joyce was born Aug. 16, 1923, in Cherry Creek, and was the daughter of the late Donald and Ruth Cummings Penner.

oyce was a 1940 graduate of Cherry Creek High School and a 1944 graduate of WCA Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed by WCA as a Registered Professional Nurse, retiring in 1987.

Joyce was a member of the WCA Alumni, past matron of the Eastern Stars of Mt. Siani and Macca Lodges, Ross Grande, Town of Poland Senior Citizens, Ellicott Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution and Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

She is survived by a daughter ,Janice V.R. (Carl F.) Schneider of Poinciana Fla.; four granddaughters: Tamra Poole, Taryn Blunt, Sarah Paynter, Kristine Beardsley, six great-granddaughters, and three great- grandsons. Her sister, Norma Steward, resides at Tanglewood.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jerre VanRensselaer; and a brother, Donald Penner.

The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of Hultquist Place and A-2 at Lutheran Retirement Home Center for the wonderful care Joyce received.

A memorial service will be held in August in Christ Chapel at Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center. Interment will be in Cherry Creek Cemetery.
