Elsie Samuelson Samuelson

March 18, 1927 to May 7, 2018

Elsie Samuelson Samuelson, was born on March 18, 1927, in Jamestown, N.Y., to Herman and Signe Samuelson of Bemus Point, N.Y. Elsie passed away peacefully on May 7, 2018, in Orlando, Fla.

Elsie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, James “Sam”; her loving son, Randy; and her brother, Jack. She will be sadly missed by her devoted daughter, Beverly Farrell (James); two granddaughters: Kristina Johnson (Jarrod) and Meghan Mercado (Edward); her greatgrandson, Rowan and great-granddaughter, Isabella. She is also survived by her sister, Lois Schauman (Gene); and brothers: Brian (Phyllis) and Carl (Phyllis).

Elsie was the oldest of five children and was a guiding influence to her younger siblings.

Elsie and Sam were married in 1948. It was just a coincidence that her maiden name was Samuelson and turned out to be her married name as well, but it was frequently a subject of conversation! Elsie was a homemaker until 1966 when she took a job with Clarke Box and Label Company in Jamestown until she retired in 1987. Elsie and Sam moved to Orlando, Fla., in 2005 to be close to her children.

Elsie was very proud of her Swedish heritage and loved visiting Dala Jarna, Sweden. In her younger years, she enjoyed dancing, bowling and playing pinochle. She loved being outdoors in the sunshine, reading, watching old movies and she was a wonderful cook.

Elsie was always known for her great sense of humor, always finding something joyful in different situations.

Elsie was always happiest in the company of her family and friends.

She would like to be remembered as an “old softie” because she appeared hard on the outside, but was truly very soft at heart.

She will be greatly missed and forever loved, by her family and friends.

May she rest in peace.
