Sandra K. O’Brien

FALCONER — Sandra K. O’Brien, 74, of Edgewood Community at Lutheran in Jamestown, passed away Tuesday (April 10, 2018) at the Lutheran Rehab, after a sudden battle with cancer.

She was born Oct. 14, 1943, in Silver Creek/Brocton, the daughter of the late Gilbert L. and Phyllis (Ranney) Fancher.

Sandy was a 1961 graduate of Frewsburg Central School, where her parents raised her and her three sisters. Following her marriage to John Francis O’Brien on Feb. 16, 1963, she moved to Randolph, where she was a home- maker and later worked at the Randolph Manor for many years.

In 1990, she and John purchased Roberts Nursery on Dry Brook Road in Falconer, and they jointly operated it. John passed away on March 8, 2012, and Sandy continued operating it with the assistance of her son, Dean, granddaughter, Paige and their valued hard working employees.

While living in Randolph, she had been a member of the East Randolph United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school. She and John enjoyed traveling and Sandy liked doing crafts in her spare time.

She is survived by her son, Dean F. O’Brien and his daughter, Paige, both of Falconer; three sisters: Vicky Johnson Greer, Kristina Stornes Riney and Linda Fancher Austin; as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends,

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Francis O’Brien; and a brother Gene L. Fancher.

The family will receive family and friends from 11-2 Saturday (April 14, 2018) in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph, where services will immediately follow. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt will officiate. Burial Inurnment will be in the Randolph Cemetery.
