Patricia A. (Kelwaski) Russell

Patricia A. (Kelwaski) Russell, 82, of Jamestown, passed away at 3:10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018, at the home of her son, following a brief courageous battle with cancer.

A lifelong area resident, she was born July 20, 1935, in Jamestown, N.Y., a daughter of the late Stephen and Cecilia G. Meehan Kelwaski Sr.

Before her retirement, Pat worked as a certified nurse’s aide for Accredited Care in Jamestown for 20 years. She also provided private duty nursing for many elderly individuals in the Jamestown area. In earlier years she had worked for the former Cake Shop for 12 years and the former Manor Oak Skilled Nursing Facility for four years.

She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother who spent her days loving and providing for her family. She loved to do crafts and made many afghans for her family and friends over the years. She was also a self taught musician and loved to play the organ. During her nursing career she had a special relationship with the elderly people that she cared for, treating them like they were her own family.

Surviving are her five children: Marcia Gustafson of Jamestown, N.Y., Michael (Justine) Russell of Jamestown, Craig (Naomi) Russell of Elgin, Texas, Patrick (Melissa)Russell of Falconer, Jeffrey (Jamie) Russell of Jamestown; 13 grandchildren: Lauren Russell, Melissa Berry, Kaylei Russell, Piper Russell, Kamryn Russell, Daniel Russell, Rebecca Russell, Aaron Russell, Andrew Gustafson, Kyle Gustafson, Austin Schmitt, Zachary Miller, Corey Miller; two great-grandchildren: Hunter Vergith and Ellie Berry; and a brother, Clarence Kelwaski of Warren, Pa.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers: Stephen Kelwaski Jr. and Carl Kelwaski; a sister, Margaret Ewing; and an infant sister, Marciaa Kelwaswki.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Douglas Kibbe, pastor of Church on the Rock, will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

The family would like to thank all of Pat’s neighbors and friends for their friendship and concern especially Mr. and Mrs. Roger Harrower who were her close neighbors for many years.
